I'm just scratching my head as to why "a fancy CZ of some kind" isn't winning in a landslide
I do know this much, every shooter should own at least one precision target pistol. They are that satisfying.
Would that include a Smith & Wesson Model 52 (not a 1911 configured pistol but certainly a "precision target pistol")-a pistol that costs far less than most of the "high end" target pistols being discussed? Does a pistol need to cost three or four grand to make the "grade"? Personally, I think not. Colt Gold Cup National Match pistols, for instance, will group as well or better than any high-priced spread, uber-custom pistols made by the likes of Wilson, Baer, Brown or Clark. Mine does.

Not even if I drive to your place and let you shoot mine?
What do you all think about the CZ Tactical Sport Orange?
The CZ 75 is a touch too small for my hands. So a little larger frame sounds good to me.I love CZ firearms and I got to shoot the CZ TS Sport Orange. Exceptionally light trigger. A bit bigger in the hand than the CZ 75 but not a monster. I am sure others will have more info but my brief encounter with it was wonderful.
I can only comment on STI since that's the only brand of these that I've owned, but my STI has been absolutely 100% on function. It's accurate and has a great trigger. It's one of the few guns that I've not felt the need to tweak anything on.
I will say though that compared to the others, the STI doesn't LOOK quite as "flashy". For that I'd say Nighthawk seems to be the "purdiest" but I've never fired (or even touched) one.
I have a mental block on the cost of firearms. $2500 dollars is not a difficult sum of money for most people to come up with, but for some reason I can’t bring myself to consider spending that kind of money on a gun. I spend at least that much money every year ice fishing and I just bought a $2500 torque converter to go in the $4000 transmission in my race car which has no practical use, but for some reason I see guns in that money class and I think of them as rediculous waste that nobody can afford. I’m working on getting over that but I will probably always choose to buy 3 or 4 moderately priced used guns than one really expensive custom.
Would love to do just that, Mike, but I am back to working five days a week at the Rock Island Arsenal Museum. And I wouldn't miss one second of that for anything. I have, in the first two months, got to meet the Secretary of the Army (Mark Esper) , a bunch of Generals, numerous Colonels and a lot of Vets I can swap stories with. A dream come true!!Tark if you ever get down to Georgia let me know. I doubt I'll ever get to own a firearm in the price range being discussed here. But I would not turn down the chance to shoot one & see what all the fuss is about. To me a Dan Wesson would be high end. For now I'll just have to content myself with my SR 1911.

That would be a great segue into my new career as a pimp.stainless P226 and then TiN coat all gold but the controls and polish those up.
What do you all think about the CZ Tactical Sport Orange?
I can tell you I have a little less than 2k in a CZ TS that will smoke all my 1911's at a static range and is my main competition gun. However, the internals and externals look like they were machined and finished by a blind kid reading braille, and I don't care.
Thanks for the insight. Sounds like a nice gun with only minor adjustments needed. From my post earlier in this thread..
My Tactical Sport w/ some CZC work is an older model, I have no experience with the orange with exception of holding one. That said slimming down the grip and the thumb rest are options I would like to do to mine one day.
