If you were king what gun laws would you make?

Concealed carry would be allow in all locations unless there was a demonstrated technical risk of such practice (for ex. CCW by the MRI). States would be shall issue and could decide on their own about competency tests unless they were unreasonable or too expensive. Incentives would be given for reciprocity - more crime fighting funds for instance.

SBR rules would be voided.

Piers Morgan, Michael Bloomberg and Chuck Schumer would have to wear funny hats.

Rule 1 - NO elected politician can own or possess anything any other person cannot.

First, complete disarment for the population, king doesn't like conspiritors or dissenters.
Second, seizure of all property and PEOPLE, king likes his chattle.
Third, 33% tithing on all earnings (would have to figure that out as the people are my slaves.)
Fourth, sanitariums, asylums, prisons and labor/re-education camps for everyone.

Firearms safety would taught in all public schools, and be mandatory from K-12. Basic firearms proficiency from 7th grade on (handgun, rifle, and shotgun).

Every citizen would be in the Militia, (Active or Inactive), and have a state-issued semi-automatic rifle, and 100 rds/month in ammunition (in the caliber of the state-issued rifle) would be tax-deductible.

The only exemptions from the Militia would be mental/physical handicaps or disabilities, religous reasons, or CO; I'd probably make the CO's serve anyway, just in non-combat roles.

There would be licensing and registration of all firearms; all transfers must be registered. Concealed Carry, Full Auto, etc., is just another endorsement on your license (probably a combined driver's/gun owner's license).

Since I am King, and I am a Just & Wise King, beloved of my people (and vice versa), none of my Subjects will need fear the heavy hand of firearms confiscations or bans.

^ the thread is "if you were king...." not highest elected official of a free country.
Monarchies and dictatorships are governments/ countries "owned" by a single entity with power passed through lineage usually OR mock elections. Power that can only be taken by force eg. Assassination coup or voluntarily by stepping down. Kings tend to want to preserve their power hence giving people rights only lessens theirs.

You give the people free speech and all of a sudden they start protesting.
You give them guns along with free speech and your asking for a disaster.
No matter how benevolent or malevolent you are there will always be detractors.

I would take a systematic and thorough look at every single unconstitutional gun law in the country and I would enact laws that are diametrically opposite to each and every one of them in order to inflict as much pain and stress on anti-gunners as they have piled upon us for decades.

Upon graduation from high school, each graduate would serve 1 year military service in the branch they choose. Upon discharge the are issued their service rifle for life, and 500 rounds of ammo.
No other restrictions on firearm possession allowed.
