Illegal Immigration Isn't About Them, It's About Us

I have many friends who are LEGAL immigrants and those that come here illegally do a disservice to the foreign born people that do want to become Americans and assimilate into American society.

In fact, one friend I have was here from Russia on a tourist visa trying to get a student visa. Her mother is working on getter her citizenship but currently has a green card and teaches at the University of Florida and her step-father, who came to the US with her mother, has earned his US citizenship and is a Doctor in Gainesville. Her student visa was just denied and her tourist visa is almost up. As it looks she will have to go back to Russia. While she could try to stay here illegally she has far too much integrity for that. She will go back to Russia and go through the proper channels to return here legally. Her ultimate goal, like her mother, is to become an American citizen.

I agree with others, most illegal do not want to assimilate into the American culture. In fact, I heard a talk show where a former employer of illegals called in and said that illegals would come here and work for about 3 months straight and then take their money back with them to Mexico where they would live like kings for the remaining 9 months out of the year. They had absolutely no interest in America or its culture they just wanted to live a better life in Mexico.

Aren’t Mexican officials ashamed in the least that their country is such a cesspool that their citizens are leaving in droves? It is pathetic because Mexico has vast recourses that could be used to make the country a better place for its own people to live and work. For people that take such pride in their heritage they sure don’t seem to want to make their own country make itself better. Instead they would rather illegally enter into and work in other countries to get what their own country won't give them. Do we really want these types of parasites raping our homeland and turning us into a **** hole like Mexico? :cuss: :fire: :banghead:

SALT LAKE CITY - Mexican President Vicente Fox is expected in Salt Lake City this afternoon to begin a three-day visit.

To some, Mexican President Vicente Fox's visit to the United States is a sign of hope to Hispanics as Congress debates immigration policy. To others, it is an opportunity to rally again in support of tightening the border.

Immigration is a major focus of Fox's visit to Utah, Washington state and California this week as the U.S. Senate considers legislation to strengthen border security, authorize new guest-worker programs and give an eventual chance at citizenship to most of the estimated 12 million people already living illegally in the United States.

Fox begins his trip in Utah, a state that like many, is divided on immigration. While Utah's largest minority population is Hispanic, there also is growing frustration about the wave of illegal immigrants entering the state.

Jorge Fierro, a Mexican citizen who has lived in Utah since 1986, hopes Fox addresses how he and future leaders can improve the lives of Mexicans. Fierro, who is catering an address Fox is scheduled to make at Rico's Market, opened his first bean stand in 1997 and now sells Mexican food products in supermarkets throughout Utah.

"This is going to boost our morale now that our brothers and sisters are facing uncertainty in their future," Fierro said.

The Minuteman Project, which opposes illegal immigration, is planning protests at the Capitol, where Fox is scheduled to address a special session of the Legislature on Wednesday.

"I'd like to see Vicente Fox tell his people to respect the law and come here legally," said Alex Segura, founder of the Utah Minuteman Project.

Fox's itinerary for Tuesday included a luncheon speech to business and civic leaders and a stop at the Utah Cultural Center. A state dinner is planned Tuesday evening.

He'll also have a private meeting Wednesday with Republican Gov. John Huntsman. Huntsman supports President Bush's plan to send as many as 6,000 National Guard troops to the Mexican border and says it's important for Fox to see firsthand the frustrations Western states feel when it comes to illegal immigrants burdening health care and prison systems.

Fox also is expected to meet with leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The majority of Utah residents are Mormon, as is the Legislature and Huntsman. The Mormon church also has a strong presence in Mexico, where in 2004 membership exceeded 106 million — or one in every 105 Mexican nationals.

On Thursday, Fox is scheduled to address a joint session of the California Legislature and meet with Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger. It will be Schwarzenegger's first meeting with Fox since he became governor in 2003. Fox also is expected to meet with Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa in Los Angeles.

One word: tribalism.

And mob rule never really left, it just took a holiday. The aberration was always a lawful society of free men.

We're in trouble.

It has seemed to me for a bit of time now, the Mexicans who think of themselves as "Mexican" as opposed to American, almost invariably live in the West. Others may be proud of their heritage, but most consider themselves American.

It appears that in the southwest atleast, the third bloc of Balkanized America has already begun.

Unfortunately, illegal immigration IS about us.

If we were not so willing and anxious to have cheap labor, very few aliens would have an incentive to come here illegally.

If demographics were not so clearly against Democrats, they would not be busily trying to import a new voting block to restore their power.

Yes curse those Democrats - despite not having a lick of political power for the last five plus years they have maaged to strong arm the governing Repuiblicans into reducing enforcement against illegals as well as massively increasing the flow of them - and without even controlling most of the border states either.

These Democrats are damned devious and suspiciously successful in this one case for a party that has been unable to politically tell its arse from its elbow since about 1994. It's all their fault!
