NOT far enough from Chicago
Lately I've visited 5 or six dealers, and while not exactly scientific I hear that sales are up in these last moments before our new commissar, er, governor gets sworn in on Monday.

One shop I was at today said sales were up in November 50 percent over a normal November, and December was up 50 percent more. He also said sales this month were doing quite well too.

At first he couldn't put his finger on it, then when I pointed out Monday's event the light bulb went on.

The general consensus seems to be that the outgoing governor has left the state in bad enough shape that the new guy won't get to pull too much nonsense. But noone's taking chances.

Black Monday is right around the corner :( If I had the $ I'd be stocking up too. Who knows what is going to happen but I'm sure it won't be in our favor :(

You're all welcome to move over here to the Hoosier state.... But hopefully it won't come to that :(

CA gun shops seemed awfully busy before the new year. We have strange new gun laws going into effect. The new gun laws are only designed for oppression they are unrelated to crime.

Any oppressed gun owners in ILL and Kali are welcome to come to Ohio and help us pass CCW. Stay a while, too...as long as you want.

Yup, there's a rush

It's not as crowded as it was on 9/12 but business at my local stores is up.

Even Roddy boy is going to have to take time to pass any draconian gun measures. I'm not panicing (yet) but sometime in the next few weeks, before they can get any really crappy stuff into the now demo controlled legislature, (thanks so much governor Ryan, you big fat obvious crook) I'll pick up a couple of .223 battle packs and maybe another semi-auto or two.

Other than that, I have my C&R license and every year there are new and exciting long guns and pistolas coming of age on the BATF list.

I lived in IL for the majority of my life and I don't think I could ever be convinced to move back to it. If I absolutely had to work in Chicago I probably would look for a place just over the border in IN and commute via car or the South Shore line.

Daley runs the entire state from Chicago to St. Louis so he will make the decisions concerning gun ownership. Get ready for the worst possible scenario.

Yes, soon to be EX Gov. Ryan will get his and the sooner the better. I was always amazed at his defense that he "didn't know there was anything illegal going on." To me that was like saying "I am not a crook, I am just an idiot." What I really hate is the democratic gun haters will go on acting, or mabye even believing in their delusional minds, people really wanted them in office. In my opinion anyway, G. Ryan sickened all of Illinois on the republican party to the point practically anyone democratic could have been elected. I wish I had a little extra spending money right now I would be adding to the sales figures myself. Jim.

If you are a sheep, Illinois is a great place to live. If you are a wolf, not so good. In one respect they have very liberal laws regarding human freedom, but because Chicago politics dominate downstate, we get a lot of stupid crime laws regarding guns and such business. And of course, make no mistake, a lot of downstate Illinois tax dollars go to fixing roads in Cook county.

Funny, but if Illinois would pass a CCW law, Chicago would most likely see a significant drop in crime. In the medium sized community I live in, Bloomington/Normal, half way between Chicago and St. Louis, we have 12 unsolved bank robberies in the last year! We have only 100,000 souls and this kind of crime rate. It is because the BG from the hood has nothing to fear amongst a flock of sheep!

Illinois would be a pleasant little state, sort of like Iowa without Chicago. Too bad us downstaters can not secede from Chitown. It is just the way it is, you can't change it, but when I retire, I will be Florida bound.

You got that right! Chicago should be it's own little state/country. I grew up on the NWST side now just outside of it in Des Plaines, and even here it is a *little* better, not as good further out, but defintely better than the city limits. I think I am pretty much stuck in Illannoy until my daughter gets older, that is about another 10 years :( Unless the X decides to move to WI, then I am free to leave :D and I will!

Lately, I've taken to calling Chicago, "Moscow by the lake". It seems to fit somehow...

This new governor-to-be is talking about running the state from Chicago instead of Springfield. That would be appropriate since we kind of have the idea who's really going to be running the show.
