    Illinois - The Deadbeat State
The are two very bad bills in the Illinois House: HB2414 (AWB) and HB 4693 (Firearm Retailer Licencing).

HB 2414 is an AWB that so far has 7 admendments pending.

HB 4693 would effectively end retail firearm sales in Illinois.

How can you help, you ask ???

Call some of the legislators below and tell them that you will NOT go the Grand American nor any other event at World Shooting & Recreation Complex in Sparta.

The State Rep for Sparta is Dan Reitz (D): repreitz@egyptian.net, He'd love to hear about all the tourism money that WILL NOT be spent in his district.

Here's the Mayor of Sparta's E-mail, send him one also: spartamayor@spartaillinois.us

These are the sponsor's of these bills, Call or e-mail them and tell them that you won't be coming to visit Illinois and the WS&RC in Sparta, because you don't feel welcomed by Illinois Anti-Gun/Anti-Gun Owner attitude.

i hate to be a pessimist but Illinois is pretty much beyond help. the people have elected these idiots time and again and now Illinois residents are reaping the rewards of their decisions. there will come a point where the residents are fed up with having their freedoms taken away slowly but surely but apparently that time has not come yet. i'm truly sorry for the members of this board that live in NY, IL, CA, DC. the key is going to be get some rational people elected to office. otherwise it will be only an eternal battle to keep whats left of your rights. as long as Dick Daley and Blahblahblahvich are in office Illinois will continue down the road of Stalin.

    boy 2414 makes me mad:

    (3) 50 caliber rifles have been associated with
29 significant criminal activity, both domestic and
30 international, and that there is a nexus between these
31 weapons and terrorist groups, outlaw motorcycle gangs,
32 international drug cartels, domestic drug dealers,

    HB2414 - 2 - LRB094 09150 RLC 39382 b

1 religious cults, militia groups, potential assassins, and
    2 violent criminals;
3 (4) 50 caliber rifles and ammunition are proliferating
    4 on the civilian market in the United States;
5 (5) despite the attractiveness of 50 caliber rifles to
6 criminals and potential terrorists, these firearms are
7 treated as ordinary long guns under existing federal and
8 Illinois law, and can be legally purchased in this State by
9 any 18-year old who possesses a valid Firearm Owner's
10 Identification Card and whose criminal history records and
11 mental health records do not disqualify the person from
12 possessing those rifles but purchasers of handguns, in
13 contrast, must be at least 21 years old; and
14 (6) the uncontrolled proliferation and use of 50
15 caliber rifles poses an unacceptable threat to the health,
16 safety, and security of the public.
17 It is the intent of this Act to reduce the risk of personal
18 injury, death and property damage caused by these weapons of
    19 war.

If this became law I would have hundreds or thousands of dollars in guns and magazines to get rid of in 90 days or be a felon. Way to go illinois.

I see the 50 cal myth is still perpetuating itself. Barrett ought to sue the news producer that did that article. It was manufactured to make the 50 cal look way more evil than it is. Too bad that today's politicians aren't intelligent enough to seperate the wheat from the chaff.:fire:

Thanks for the heads up Scout. I am new to the sport of shooting and am absolutely amazed at how close to extinction this activity is here in Illinois. The more I learn, the more disgusted I become at the foolishness of these proposed laws and restrictions. I am no fan of politics but one does not need to look further to find examples of their "favorite" politicians ability to reason than their stance on the 2nd ammendment. So many of these anti-gun proposals are so illogical I am left to more deeply question the ability of these representative to "think through" other issues and the effect their decisions will have on our lives.

This is from the NRA/ISRA lobbyist in Springfield:
I'm concerned that they think they are within two votes of passing this. I know that only one rep from either party (Wyvetter Young D East St Louis) from Southern Illinois will vote for this. Where is the rest of the support outside of the Chicago delegation coming from?

Bobarino, I hate to admit it but I agree with you. Illinois just breeds corruption and political crime. I do place most of the blame on Daley but as you said the people keep re-electing him and his father since 1955 with the exception of Balandic,Byrne and Washington .
As far as governers (D)Blago is currently being investigated by the feds and our previous gov, (R)Ryan is on trial as we speak. The state of Illinois should be declared unconstitutional!! Then divided up between Indiana,Missouri,Iowa and Wisconsin. Sorry Kentucky, you guys probably don't want any of Illinois anyway because crime and corruption among politicians is contagious. Then make D.C. a state so we don't have to change all the flags to 49 stars.

Rather than divy up IL completely, I think Chicago and its immediate surroundings should become their own state, floundering in the mess they have themselves made. They would just end up dominating the politics of their new region, and not for the better.

But speaking for MO, we'd be happy to have most of central and southern IL. Madison and St. Clair Counties might need some rehab first.

    Funny thing,
Everybody outside this state complains that we elected the idiots in office. Yet when you ask the folks who live here, nobody ever admits to actually voting for the jokers,,,,,,,

That's because none of us did!

Blagovitch and Daley keep getting elected by thosse dead people who keep getting up out of their graves at election time. I didn't vote for Blago. I don't live in the Chicago area (thank God) so I don't vote for De Mayor. I am hoping desperatley that the people of Illinois are smart enough to vote Blago out of office and that either Brady or Oberwiese gets the nod.

+1 I've said it many times Chicago and all its umm... "glory" needs to seperate from the state.

Thats because of chicago, Illinois is almost all RED on the political map except for the north east corner its all BLUE. Unfortunatnly for those of us who live in central and southern IL we don't have near the population as that small area, so "Chi-town":barf: controls the state politically. Something really needs to be done about this. The votes need to be divided more equally amoung the counties and not based on population. I don't know the percentage but the majority of votes come out of Cook county. :cuss: :banghead: :cuss: :banghead:

Its not only dead people either they drag homeless from the street during elections with the offer of a free meal or cash to vote their way!

    1. Blagojevich could not have won last time without the votes he got from downstate. Blame Chicago all you want, he's a Chicago boy who only got nominated because of his Chicago powerhouse father-in-law, but downstate still helped elect him.
People were willing to vote for anyone who wasn't George Ryan or a Republican. This is the danger with Judy Baar Topinka this time--that people will vote for her just because she's not Blagojevich and not a Democrat. Those are NOT qualifications!

    2. Ironically, Illinois apparently didn't include the Chicago area when it was a territorial area. "We" extended the border north far enough to get access to Lake Michigan (and increase the population just to be on the safe side.)
If "we" hadn't, Chicago might be Wisconsin's problem today.

I'd be more than happy to give Chicago to Wisconsin, or even Indiana if they want it.

I have no idea how Blago got elected . . . . .I voted republican, but it's EMBARASSING to be a republican in this state. Hell, it's embarassing to be a resident when you're talking politics. I think the idiots who are running this state have decided that we're just mini-california. How could you possibly justify an AWB bill when even the gun control idiots said the federal one didn't do anything . . .
