The word is that the AWB is most likely not going to come up for a vote because Jones knows he doesn't have enough votes to pass it. However we need to keep the pressure up on SB1471 they may think they have the votes for this one. I believe a good starting place would be the list of Senators we identified as being new or "soft" on gun rights in regard to SB0016. I think our efforts with that have born some fruit. Let's now reproduce those efforts twofold against SB 1471, the .50 Ban.

It is not a farfetched possibility that at least a few of these Senators who would love to see their names in the newspaper for getting tough on gun crime might support the .50 ban under the erroneous assumption that we'd be okay with that since they didn't vote for SB0016.

Just spoke with Dillards office downstate and she says he is undecided on how he is going to vote.

She says she has taken a few calls on the bill but that is it.

I told her I am opposed to the ban and let him know.

Get on the horn guys!!

As usual not a single one even from my area code...*sigh* can't they attack the 3rd amendment for a while, I want a break.

Passed 2nd reading last night:what: . Placed on Calendar for 3rd reading today. They could vote today. Final push on making those calls. If you can't call everyone on the list make sure you get to your Senator and urge them to vote against SB1471. Thanks

IL Sen. Radogno's on board

She was listed in the Tribune's editorial as one of the state Senators that needed to be pushed, "for the good of the community". I've been pushing her all right, but not in the direction the Tribune wants and it's working.

I have called her local and Springfield offices twice and written two snail mail letters in the last couple of weeks. I also provided her staff with some Government statistics sources on "crime with rifles" and overall crime statistics for Illinois.

Then, for the heck of it, I sent her the You Tube address for that "Full versus semi auto" video by the San Diego cop.

Her office manager said the phones have been really "ringing off the wall" on these issues and she couldn't recall this kind of reaction from the public over any other issue.

Yesterday I also got a personal, and detailed response letter, signed by Radogno, saying that she intends to continue to oppose both Senate bills and all future Chicago inspired gun control measures. She also thanked me specifically for the reference material I provided.

The short version of her response is that she feels they are unconstitutional at a minimum, and in any event an unneccessary imposition on the law abiding.

A good woman who actually seems to keep track of facts. My state rep is pretty good too. Her office actually recognizes my voice now when I call.

I think there are a lot of other Senators and state reps that just put it on "cruise control" once they're elected until their phones start ringing and then they sit up and go, "Hey, this may be important, I better pay attention here".

Dammit. The AWB better not go through because I just got my FOID card yesterday.
