Today, several members of the TN Mafia held an impromptu get-together at the Cheatham County range. Present were myself, Darrin, Bowlcut, Spanky McFly, and mwithers72.
I tried my first batch of reloaded 7.7 Jap. Other than 1 round with wet powder, which resulted in a squib load, that went well. I'm happy with the load. I didn't have a chronograph, so no velocity info to post. With no rest and just shooting it with iron sights, there were no groups to speak of either. That and I'm not the world's greatest marksman. Suffice to say, that while I wouldn't win any matches, I'm confident I could take a deer with it.
Now for the point of the thread. I started shooting my S&W 686 upside down. I was actually pretty accurate doing this, much to the surprise of not only those around me, but also to myself. Welllllll, Bowlcut was firing his P99 and offers to let me shoot it. So, after firing one round in the manner in which the weapon was designed, I decide to try it upside down. BIG MISTAKE!!!!!!!! The slide came back and tore a nice chunk of my hand open. I applied pressure immediately, and Bowlcut used my first aid kit to help me dress the wound. Darrin then drove me to the hospital, with Bowlcut and Spanky following us. I ended up with three stitches and a gauze-wrapped mitt.
Moral of the story: Don't be a DUMBA$$!! If I hadn't been trying to show-off, I wouldn't have done this to myself. That'll be the last time I ever attempt to fire a pistol upside down.
Also, Kevin, Darrin, Rodney and Mark, thank you for your help in packing my stuff up and getting me to the ER. While it wasn't a life-threatening injury, it is nice to see friends willing to stop what they are doing to help you out. I really appreciate it. My hat's off to y'all.

P.S. Don't be a DUMBA$$!!!!
