I bought the last 400 LR primers in the store. I bought 200 last week and thought I'd leave some for other customers. Went back today and there were still 4 little packs left so I bought them. Now I have 600 LR primers to make 300 .270 and 300 .30/30. Only $8/100 what a steal

$8 a 100? That is not as bad as some are paying. I still would not pay it. I paid $4 a 100 the other day and that is about as much as I will pay.

Got you beat have 11k of Winchester large pistol primers and 10 K of Wolf small
pistol primers in the shop....... Max price I paid was $25.00 p/ thousand...

I just reload for fun so 600 LR primers will last me quite awhile. I do know that when (or if) things ever settle down I will buy a few thousand of these little guys in case it happens again....lesson learned.

mmcsret i agree

i just noticed today im down to less than 100 primers for large rifle i still have close to 1k of large pistol and 500 small pistol

i just buy in bulk so i dont have to run out looks like i picked a bad time to run out

Its been awhile since I bought primers. The box I have is marked $1.09,, per 100 or $10. dollars the brick. I used to buy 3-4 thousand of each before I got married and thats when my hobby stopped for a long time!! Wow the price has changed alot.

I got caught short of sp's (had only 200 on hand when had to do some loading for me and nephews) so had to scrounge awhile and find a K of sp mags for $22.40 - they can be used with flake powder anyways.
I had a brick of lr's and lp's set back just in case - appears to be wise I did there's no lp, sp and little lr out there around these parts.
powder seems available but they are 'gouging' on IMO. jacketed slugs from top makers (Rem - Horn, etc) are scarce and pricey also.

I see no point in hoarding reloading components. I buy them to shoot, not hoard.

Then maybe you should look at it as an investment. $8 for something that should be a $2.5 (if you buy bulk) is a pretty good return.

powder valley will send up to 48,000 primers under one $20 hazmat fee so you don't want to waist money there either.

Bought 2k CCI LR primers last week for 34.99 per K... I don't need more but may add some if I go by that place again in the next couple weeks....

I shoot for fun. It's not what gives meaning to my life and I have other ways to have fun. I'm not going to pay scalper prices just because it's the current "in thing" to do.

Anyone else can pay what it's worth to them but I'm still having a great time without having to boast about being ripped off.

Local shops here are limiting to 2-400 primers per customer to preclude the hoardin'. My local reloadin' supplier has been VERY good about supplyin' me w/what I needed. He was leery at first, but a buddy was with me one day, an' when I went to get something outta the truck he asked him if I REALLY was reloadin' that much. When my buddy told him I was, there was no more issue.
He was pleased when I told him the other day that I'd managed to get some online, and had another order in for more. Thing is, his shop is NOT jumpin' the prices up - he's just watchin' who he lets buy 'em. If someone comes in and gets too froggy about wanting more than he thinks he's really usin', he won't sell 'em.

I picked up 1000 ea. of LR and LP over the weekend. $28/1000. The shop had at least 10,000 of each. I didn't get greedy. It will take me at least a year to use what I bought. The only thing I'm low on right now is SP. Another local shop has some. But they kind of pissed me off. Had there primers marked: $33.95/1000 $4.00/100. I said I would take 1000 SP. She says 200 limit. I ask if she would do the 200 at 3.40/100 (since I'm willing to buy 1000 to get the cheaper price) she says no. So I walked out without buying anything. Don't know why they mark them like that if they have no intention of selling them like that.:cuss:

You will regret that when you can't get them anymore. I have my stash built up to about 40,000.

Shaggy - I am completely aware that $8 per 100 is not a good price (hence the "rolling eyes at the end of my post). ;)

I still put gas in my boat and jetski last summer when gas was $4/gallon, I guess I'll never learn :banghead:
If I was boasting and offended you, I apologize. But I think hobbies are therapuetic and if the price goes up i keep doing it (just in moderation, as in...I only bought 600 primers and they will last me a year or we can only take the boat or jetski out today not both). If i sit around and refuse to pay higher prices for any of my hobbies I'd be forced to sit and stare out my window for hours on end. i would rather limit my consumption and be happy than sit around and pout about it. Plus i learned a good lesson...buy components when they are cheap and in supply even if you don't need them.

NOT offended, for sure not at you so let me apoligise for my poorly worded response. Din't mean you at all, just used your comment as a spring board. I actually meant some of the loonies I've heard that DO seem to be proud of how much their latest buy cost them!
