First off id like to say thanks to all the people that helped me out and kept me from blowing my fool head off :)

secondly, i owe some people on here shipping money!!!! i told them id send them there shipping money back and then i disappeared :( (explanation below) i deleted most of my messages i think, SO if i owe you some shipping money please message me so i can get it out to you,,,, (im hoping for honesty here LOL)

NOW my explanation.... i was/still am going through some bad medical times, the doc sprung the big C word at me and kinda stopped me in my tracks and my reloading/play time got pushed to the back burner, well im semi back now and ready to kick life in the butt some more!! they did some snipping and cutting and think they got it all and the tests are showing negative but i cant do any happy dances because they put me on a high risk that it could come back or more form,,,, SO that is where ive been and im sorry for the people i stood up... il make it up :)

NOW to keep this in the reloading section ..... has anybody used red dot to load 22-250?? i just bought a savage 22-250 (kinda a feel better gift to myself LOL) or thats the excuse i used to buy it :D:D

thanks

PS: im NOT looking for any pity party i just felt i owed the good people here a explanation,,,,

I've always used IMR 4064 in my 22-250, I shoot 52 and 53g Hornady's. In my reloading book, I don't even see Red Dot listed, can't help you there.

As far as the Big C, I've had a go of that myself 5 years ago. I'll keep you in my prayers brother !

I'm not a person to whom you owe anything. I certainly will not offer you pity, as you request, but will provide you prayer instead. It's hard to pity a man showing character and integrity in trying live up to his word.

I hope you find those whom you feel you may owe and make things right to yours and their satisfaction. I also hope and will pray that you have a long and prosperous future with improving health.

Your explanation should be well recieved. God bless you!

I've used Benchmark in my 22-250 reloads with my most recent choice in bullet being the 50gr Hornady V-MAX.

RED DOT is right up there with Bullseye in burn-rate - not something I'd look for in a 22-250. To complicate things; Savage tends to put a very fast twist rate in their barrels compared to what most powder manufacturers will use as a baseline in their load data.

I'll certainly offer prayer as well. God can do some amazing things when we put all of our faith in Him.

Anyway, on to reloading with Red Dot. I load for the 22-250 so I'll dig into my stuff and see what I've got for Red Dot and some lead bullets for some low velocity plinking loads, which I assume is what your inquiring about.

So far the only thing I'm seeing is data with SR4759 in my Speer #10 for some low velocity jacketed loads, "Red Loads". Most of these loads in various bullet weights are running about 1600-1700 fps, so they're certainly running slow. But I don't find anything on Red Dot, I'll dig some more.

No pity here, just prayers for your continued health. Keep fighting and keep shooting Sir, God Bless...

You're not serious about the Red Dot, right?

Red dot is a pistol/shotgun powder. Not even close for 22/250.
Can't quote it but---the prayers of a righteous man availeth much.

THANKS YALL..... yes prays can do worlds of good, and i thank God for every day im here,,,,

now about that 22-250..... yes i was kinda serious about the red dot only cause i have a full jug laying here on the shelf, and i was surprised at all the "other" loads for different guns that was out there i thought id take a stab and get lucky LOL.... i need to get back into my manuals and printed papers i have in my desk and look things over, i think i remember my bottle of varget had 22-250 listed on the side so il have to check that too.... yall have a great day and keep shooting straight...

I've had good success with Benchmark, H380, CFE223, Varget, 8208 XBR all with varying success. All of them are under 1 MOA. I am consistently reaching 1/2 MOA with Benchmark and 8208 and 50gr V-Max. Ive got some A-Max to try along with some of Sierras offerings. I have found a new love for taking my time, crafting my munitions and enjoying the bench.

Reloader 15 is pretty good in addition to those Osteodoc has listed. I do not think Red Dot will work - way too fast burning.

Lyman's 3rd Cast shows Red Dot loads for cast bullets

using cast from 37g to 54g there's Red Dot data for all of them.

If you're shooting cast let me know and I'll type them out for you....

Ed Harris's "The Load" is 13 grains of Red Dot as a universal load for most milsurp Rifle cartridges.
