That said /understood,
Here is my thing. I want a shotgun I guess I should do this before it becomes too hard to do so. Im frugal, but want a good quality shotgun for my money. Pretty would be nice, but synthetic and matte or parkerized is coool too. At some point I'd like to learn to hunt trurkey. But mostly, I'd shot at clays and keep the powder dry in case of zombies.
So, why cast this random noise out there? 'Cause I don't know any better, and I'd like to hear what ideas of manufacturers and models fit these loose 'needs'. Ive been looking at Remngton 870 combos, Mossberg 590's and salivating over Bennelli Super Nova. I'm not looking for a slug gun, but rather something with a modified choke. Im acting as if I know what Im talking/writing about; pay no mind...
Eitherway, the time is neigh, the funds are non-existant, THE NEED GROWS.
Anyone for ideas?

I have a 20 gauge Nova that has a home with me as long as I live. I also have a couple of 870s but prefer the Nova for my use which is mostly uplands. I don't care for the after market junk that some people hang onto their 870s, so the Nova gets my nod.

Look around for a used 870, Mossberg 500 or Maverick. You can get a Maverick brand new at Walmart for $160, but it's gonna have a 28" hunting barrel on it.

Any of those three are all the gun you'll ever need. They'll outlast you with minimum care, they're cheap, plentiful, parts are readily available, they're US-made, barrels are cheap and there's plenty of aftermarket support.

The Benelli is a good gun, but you will find more extras for the 870 or Mossberg 500 than any others. Prices on used versions are usually better as well. Extra barrels are all but impossible to find for the Benelli and will be too expensive to justify. I like an 870 with 26" barrel for general hunting and a 20" rifle sighted imp. cyl barrel for SD situations.

Get a Mossberg. I love mine, always will. it shoots all day long. It has fired through rain, dirt, snow, and mud. my shotgun has been around, and sometimes has been unclean. It will still shoot and keep shooting. I absolutely love her. she's a pretty gun.

Note: my mossberg is very clean at the moment.

There are lots of choices out there, the last synthetic stock maverick I saw at wally world was $147....hard to beat for a new gun and they have layaway...
There are deals out there to be had, I just bought today a Remington 870 12ga combo w/18" barrel and a 28" interchangable choke barrel , $200....
Plenty of deals out there to be had with some looking. Ive seen Mossbergs in the classifieds for as little as $90, and 870's for $110......
