The opener for "shotgun" season in my part of NY is a few weeks away, but for me it's "muzzleloader" season. Thursday afternoon I did my final tuning on my two fav's. The GPR in .54 shot as well as ever, but with 80 grains of 777 FFg instead of 100 grains of Pyrodex. With the roundball, one and a half inches at 50 yards is OK for me. Then I got out the Omega in .50 using a 300 grain Hornady SST and 130 grains of 777 FFg. This gun put three shots into 2 inches at 100 yards, with a peep sight. Definitely OK by me.
I still can't get my .58 Firehawk to shoot consistently, so this gun will have to wait until after the season to recieve further tuning.
The treestand is up, the shooting lanes are trimmed up, I've got new hunting boots, and time off work to persue my passion.
Come opening morning, I am ready.
