I'm so glad i didn't see any

SD's

on that list...

i would have been very upset. and i even got the email from Grassfire.org saying one of them did...

They can bring it up again in the next term. Let us mobilize again at that time and defeat it for certain.

If we take down a few of the turncoat RINOs in the primaries and elect true conservatives that listen to the people and care for their country, then no future bill will have a chance. Besides, Fred Thompson will never sign such a thing into law.

I just sent thank you messages to both of our senators from Texas for voting against this bill and reminded them not to forget about border security. I spend a lot of time out in the sticks down here and I told them both that I see illegals passing through all the time. If we do nothing for the next 2 years, what have we really accomplished?

Getting this bill defeated is certainly a good thing, but it still seems to me to be a case of getting rid of the dog but keeping the fleas.

And as I said earlier the thing that's on my mind is "Now what?"
Do we go two more years with Mexicans pouring across the border, and the ones that are already here further entrenching themselves, or is somebody in D.C. gonna come up with another plan? Seems to me that if they did, there'd be no need to try and revive this one in '09.

Anyway, I'm just wondering if maybe more phone calls aren't in order, only this time with a different goal.

Zumbo 'em

Over at TFL it was asked:
So it begs the question; What now?
And it's been asked here. I have the answer. Here's what I posted at TFL:

Pretty darn simple, really. We've done it once before....

Everybody, get on every board your a member of and tell everyone else to inundate the White House, the Congress (Both Houses), CNN & Fox News with emails demanding the President to Secure The Borders! Demand that secure borders are not contingent upon being held hostage to immigration reform, and we will not stand for these shannanigans any longer.

Absolutely no reason not to Zumbo 'em. Once it gets rolling, it will pick up many who are not gunnies. True Grass Roots Action.

When the Senate returns from break, they will be working on appropriations. That's when they will at least fund or not fund enforcement of current laws. If I understand correctly, they cannot force the money to be spent by the executive, but they do need to make it available. There is nothing to stop the feds from continuing to add personnel needed to make all the proposed measures possible. State appropriations wil make local enforcement possible without any new laws. I am just saying, it's not like nothing will happen on the issue of immigration.

We need a precise fix on what has been authorized, what has been appropriated, and what has been spent (committed) regarding border enforcement. The list should include both physical and human resources. The idea is to separate and assign responsibility. Yes, congress can appropriate and the executive can decline to spend. We can direct our attention to the point of the problem instead of wasting time barking up the wrong tree.

Yay! Good job America! Whoopie!

Now all we gotta do is instead of trying to work with 12 million people to legally become citizens, we just round them up and deport them. Lessee here.... that's deporting only around 3,300 people per day, every day of the year for ten whole years. Of course, it shouldn't take that long because of how successful it's been so far, right?

Oh, yes. I forgot to build the Great Wall of America first. Because, you know, that was exceedingly effective in China.

Folks, its NOT over yet.

There is NOTHING preventing them from trying to revive this bill again later this year.....Reid actually STATED that he may attempt to revive it this fall.

NOW is the time to drive the stake home and call your CongressCritters and force them to SECURE OUR BORDERS AND ROUND UP/DEPORT THE ILLEGALS!

FORCE these people to use the legal process to come here and stop breaking our laws!

Well Sage, you sound less than pleased with today's news. Instead of the sarcasm, what would your solution to the problem be?

Actually all we have done is decide we aren't going to adopt the fleas. We have done nothing to get rid of anything or even prevent more from coming.

Erebus, the "dog" was the bill that would have more or less been the support structure for the "fleas".... It would have allowed them to maintain their presence here more easily.

Now, we've sent the dog off, but the fleas are still here and have to find something else to "feed" off of. ( The Feds blocking the local L.E.O.s from doing anything with the illegals equates to the "cat", pretty much. And we need to lose that particular critter too.)

Maybe it's not a totally accurate analogy, but it's close enough to work, I think. *shrug*

1-secure the borders
2-fine and jail time for anyone hiring illegals.
3-Allow local police to work with ICE, anyone stopped for speeding, DUI, etc.
If found to be illegal should be deported.

We can secure the borders, much can be done with the resources we have
but the will to stem the flow is not in government or corporations.

They will bring up and pass another bill in the next few weeks.

THIS bill is dead. Others can be introduced and brought up

"Remember, remember, come election in November,
the shamnesty debacle and plot,
I have not a muse why the shamnesty ruse
should ever be forgot."
