Imperial sizing die wax

Imperial is excellent, especially for very large cases like the RUM and Weatherby series.

But I've found that Dillon spray lube works about as well as anything out there, and it's very easy to use and remove.

A $5 tin of Imperial lasts for years. Cost is not an issue.

2 years ago my son noticed we only had a thimble of Imperial left in our tin, so we bought some more at a gun show. I have yet to open the new tin.

I apply it with an RCBS case lube pad by rolling 5 cases at a time. The pad spreads it out evenly and very thin. I apply just enough so that you can see your finger print. It's only a haze of lubrication; a very thin coating indeed.

Those who fail to put a lube film on the necks of rifle cases will soon have brass galling on the steel and that will result in scratches on case necks. And no matter what case lube we use, if we don't get a good coat on the lower body we will get an occasional firmly stuck case that will take 20 minutes to remove.

Those sellers on Ebay that shipped me old used non carbide pistol dies had a lot of gall.

It's all I use for full resizing my rifle brass. Have yet to get a stuck case, and the stuff just seems to last forever. Excellent product.

do I need to clean my brass again after sizing?

The lube shouldn't be getting inside the case. Use the tiniest smidgeon to lubricate the sizing button and you'll be fine. Use graphite or other dry lube there if it makes you feel better.

All lube should be removed from the outside of the case before firing. There are very few guns that require lubricated cases. Lubing the case in other guns increases thrust on the bolt face since it inhibits the brass' ability to anchor to the chamber walls as it swells when fired.

Good point! I haven't thought about the chamber getting lubed and the problems that could cause. I usually wipe my cases off anyway but will make sure to do so now. I am mainly planning to use the ISW as an addition to a spray like you said on the button or a little on the neck or base of the case to help slick up the die.

I've been using Imperial since the 70's, and used it for all of my HEAVY case forming and ammo mfg'ing... It's great stuff, i've never used anything better.

I put a LIGHT film on the case, near the shoulder, and then lightly brush my finger over the top of the case, to lube the expander button... I've been doing this, this way, for many many years and it works GREAT!

Exactly the way I do it, and then wipe the case clean before anything else happens to it.

As already mentioned, this is the best as far as I am concerned. I use it for all my hunting loads, and one can does seem to last forever. I bought three about three years ago, and I'm just about to finish the first can.
