Well the House and the Senate are now on summer recess, they are going to reconvene for a few days to go over some of the 9/11 commission reports but for the most part will not be back in session until September 7th.
This is not a recess for us, As of right now we are winning the fight for the expiration of the Assault weapons ban and scoring other pro-gun legislation across the country. But anything could happen and we are still in for the biggest fight of all.
The anti-gun crowed and liberal media are in a panic, at this point they expected to be fighting for phase 2 of their plan to disarm honest Americans, not fighting just to keep phase 1 in place.
The closer we get to September the harder the anti-gun crowed and liberal media will fight to get the Assault weapons ban renewed in the last few legislative days before it expires. Every day there is a new news article urging people to put pressure on president Bush and the House of Congress for a last chance renewal of the ban, often giving the contact information of Bush and the House.
For the most part the articles are all the same, filled with misleading information and outright lies, telling people how well the ban has worked to save lives and how if the ban expires, anyone will be able to buy AK47’s, AR15’s and other “full automatic†weapons and go on a killing spree on our streets and in our schools.
We must meet their challenge and counter it with the truth, We must keep pressure on the President, our State Senators and especially our House representatives. We also need to contact the media outlets that print misleading information and outright lies and do are best to set them strait with the truth or at least let them know that we have a voice as well and we are going to fight for rights even harder this time around.
Please go to http://www.awbansunset.com/ and look at the news that has been printed in the last few days, go there as often as you can and participate in the fight for your rights by keeping informed and expressing the real facts and even your opinion on this issue.
I know this has been very tiring for many of you, but we are too close to victory to relax and be defeated at the end. If it gets renewed you will know you did your best and if it expires, then it will be a beautiful sunset that we will see together.
Just remember it is not just about Hi-cap mags and cool looking muzzle attachments, it is about your constitutional rights.
