Fellow THRers,

Please help a man in need. I just bought this ($400 cash) on a complete, unresearched and total whim. Check out that 28-3/4" barrel!

I can feel buyer's remorse setting in after only 5 hours sleep...tell me I didn't do something too stupid:

don't have the gun myself

but from what i've seen on THR, seems like a lot of people love cz-452's. lots of people say it's a tackdriver and honestly i've wanted a cz-452 myself but don't have the funds. if you ever wanna get rid of it.... lol just kidding. have fun with it :)

Keep it

I have one just like it and it is a tack driver. The test target that came with the rifle showed a 5/8" five shot group at 50 meters, and I can do almost as good (3/4") at 50 yards with Wolf .22LR Match and open sights.

I call mine the Treerat Terminator :).

Just my .02,
LeonCarr

Keep it. The Super Exclusives are getting harder to come by and you won't be at all disapointed by how she performs.

You did good. I have a 452 Special and it is a tack driver. You won't be disappointed. The only thing I did to mine since I got it was put in a Brookes trigger kit (only $15) and now I have a 2lb trigger that breaks like glass.

Happy Shooting!

Have fun! You've got a great rifle.

My only concern with it would be that very long barrel. .22's tend to start losing velocity after 16"-18" of barrel, as there isn't enough powder in the round to accelerate them through a longer tube. This is not a problem with target shooting, where ultimate velocity is basically irrelevant: but it might be a factor in varmint shooting, where velocity helps with bullet expansion. If you plan on target shooting only, then you've got no worries, and should find it an exceptionally accurate rifle.

If you ever regret the purchase, PM me, and I'll take it off your hands! :D

Does it says 'Super BRNO 2500' on the bbl? If so, you have one of 2,500, limited run. And if that is so, you have what is more commonly called the UltraLux. It has the orange tinted beech stock, which seems to be what you have from the photos.

The Super Exclusive (with 'Super Exclusive on the bbl.) has a turkish walnut stock and was an even more limited run, of 110.

So, in either case, you done good.

I have one of the Ultraluxes, and would snap up a Super Exclusive in a second at $400.

All the other posters are dead wrong. You got a horrible rifle that won't hit the broadside of a barn from the inside. I'll do you a huge favor and take it off your hands before you get so disgusted you throw it in the garbage. I'll even give you $300 to minimize your losses. Mind you, there's no chance it's worth that much, but I'm just trying to be a nice guy.

If by "do something stupid" you mean "buy a rifle I'd really love to own and good lord look at that stock and awesomely long barrel", then yes.

Damn, I'll have to go see if they still have it when I get back home. Doubtful, as I mentioned had I not just put in the order for the Special two days before it'd have been mine right now.

There is at least one floating around mid-Michigan right now.

Richard:
Head on over to the rimfirecentral forum and look for the CZ section. There are several different UltraLux's (ultralux refers to all the 28.5" barreled rifles):
First, the SuperBrno 2500 with beechwood stock (orange). There were 2500 of these produced (I think) as TheEgg suggested. These were supposed to have been training rifles for some Middle Eastern country but the contract was cancelled.
Second, the "superexclusive" which is the same as the above but with a Turkish Walnut stock. There were only 110 of these made. I think they had a couple of barrels left so they put them on the walnut stocks.
Third, the "superexclusive" recently sold. The barrels are marked superexclusive but the stock is the orange beechwood stock. I think these are the newest and are currently being manufactured. Priced around $350-400.
Hope this clarifies things a little. I got one of the Walnut Superexclusives, wish I had bought a bunch more.

I e-mailed CZ about my rifle and their response.

Here is a copy of the e-mail I got from cz.
CZ rep:
Do you have a 452 Ultra lux 22lr? 28" BBL. There were 3000 made. You have
one of the first ones made if it says Super exclusive.

In response to my question.

Hello I just purchased a very strange Cz452 today and I was wondering if I could get a little background info from you?
The rifle resembles a ZKM452 training rifle except for a very long barrel
an odd colered stock and the words Super Exclusive stamped on the barrel.
When were these made and how many?
I look forward to recieving a reply.

Ah man -- now I am ITCHING to get my mitts on this thing. Thanks for the encouragement...

Did anyone else notice the enormously thick recoil pad on this rifle? Makes me smile...:)

I should have the rifle in my hands Friday or Saturday. Expect a full range report.

Rich

I don't think you'll regret it. It's a really nice rifle. Wish I had a second one...
