in my book the 38 Special is alive and well

OK, my question is are you "settling" for a revolver because you think the "blue" parts of the country are winning in the battle to get all semi-automatic firearms banned?
Absolutely NOT!!! Blue ain't winning a thing, I'm a revolver guy. I have my semi autos. Love to shoot and carry them. But I prefer the wheel gun as my self defense carry piece.

I still have numerous .38 Special revolvers. I’d carry one in a heartbeat.

have most of a case of Winchester .38 Special 158 GR semi wadcutters. If I carry a .38, that’s what’s in it.

I doubt it will expand. Might deform a little. But, I feel good that it will at least go in deep enough to hit important stuff.

I just bought two new handguns..... after not buying anything for nearly 10 years.

Both .are 38 Special revolvers. A Taurus 3" SS Defender and a 2" Taurus SS UL. Not bad little revolvers....so far so good.

Thanks to everyone for showing off their handsome revolvers.

Jonesy814.....your nickel 10-7 is a thing of beauty.

Perhaps is the single most relevant reloader cartridge out there. Alot of us started out on it. Find yourself a good cheap, used .38/357 revolver, and use this as your reloading test gun. Very good to develop loads for.
In recent years, finding brass plentifully in this caliber is a bit harder. But if you buy it, it's still very easy. I've probably fired more .,38 than most other handgun calibers

I LOVE the one that is just above the bottom with the stag grips

i recently added a new, steel, taurus 856 38sp snubbie. i’m not a huge fan of its dull black finish but it’s a dandy shooter. a normal civilian seeking an all-around protection piece is indeed very well served by a 38sp revolver.

30 Special is getting more and more expensive all the time. Much more so than 9mm too. Part of the draw for 38s used to be that you could get good quality firearms for dirt cheap. Those days are long gone now.

It's my preferred centerfire cartridge. It can be mild and fun to shoot, or spicy. Fits in large and small revolvers.

For the OP, I don't have a Speed Six (unfortunately), but I've been fixing up this old abused 3" Model 36, and I'm a fan of the 720's as well. :)

You know the round you have is dead, when you walk into stores during the panics and that’s the only ammo they have.

Didn’t see a lot of 38 spl last time around.

Seriously I love that second one from the bottom. Perhaps I'm showing my age by admitting I don't know what it is. Is it a model 10?

I shoot more 38 special than any other cartridge. With two 38 special revolvers and two 357mag revolvers the rounds fired add up fast!!!

I'm not sure I understand the "hard to find .38 special ammo" comments. I don't have any problem finding my preferred 158 grain jacketed round nose .38 special ammo. Then again, I use the ammoseek website when I want ammo and buy enough at one go to have a nice stockpile of it.

It’s what became the Model 10. It’s a 5” Military and Police!
I reckon then it was the competition for my Colt Official Police until the model 10 come along. That old Colt .38 was my first revolver and it looked a lot like the smith. ever since having the opportunity to shoot both I prefer the smith because it's easier and faster to reload

Me, either, I just cast up some slugs and load them up, like I did last night.

Perhaps, the last panic made all the places around me simply stock what was popular, so even now that ammo is available again I don’t see much .38 SPC.

But I do love to load it for my vaquero, wife likes to shoot it a lot!

This is my utility revolver, carried when I am working on the hunting property. 38 Special fills that role very nicely.

What holster is that? Is that a Rogers? Post a pic of the back side of you can.

Unfortunately it is the now discontinued Safariland 567. The made a small array of these holsters that each variation could be adjusted and custom fit to a small selection of handguns. They made variation for revolvers and semi-autos. Its a hybrid construction with a leather lining, with a stiffening polymer frame over that and Safariland hardware on the backside allowing you to use a variety of attachment systems from Tek-Lok, paddles or belt loop attachments. I really liked the rubber belt loop attachment. It was flexible enough to form to my hip but stiff enough to keep the revolver stable even while active or working hard.

Both of these are Safariland 567 one for 4-inch K-frames and one for 5-inch N-frame (and similar size revolver in either case). Both have the rubber belt-loop models on the back. I love these holsters and wish Safariland still made them.

I've carried all types of handguns. Revolvers were what I cut my teeth on, and I still revert back to them. Just got a mint S&W 36 3in HB gun. ...

Congrats.

Where's the pic?!? :)

The 3" J-frames can be very handy. I bought my 3" M36 Nickel when I was a young cop still carrying an issued .357MAG service revolver. I found that shooting that 3" snub, using the 158gr LSWCHP +P loads I carried at that time, was virtually as easy to accurately do as shooting my issued or other personally-owned .357MAG revolvers.

When I'm not pocket-holstering one of my shorter snubs, I still like to slip this well-worn leather paddle onto my hip. Nowadays it's usually loaded with either Speer 135gr +P GDHP or Winchester 130gr +P RA38B (PDX1 in 50rd Ranger boxes), though. I tired of cleaning lead out of charge hole throats and the barrel. ;) Don't get me wrong, as a I still have a lot of the Winchester and Remington 158gr +P all-lead HP's, and even a couple boxes of the older Federal 158gr +P Nyclad. It's just that the modern JHP's are a bit more refined than the older stuff we had in the 80's. ;)

My Stetson Chatham fur felt fedora with my 3" M36, a combo worn to my cigar club one afternoon.

This one was taken before another sojourn to my cigar club, this time showing the Benchmade 300 Axis Flipper and medium-size Case stockman I carried that afternoon. The green wool felt crushable hat is a better option for rainy days.
