In the car...

I dislike transferring (holstering and unholstering) in public mostly because it is IMO the time you are most vulnerable to a ND so aside from a second gun if I want to carry at the waist I like something that can come off and on simply and yet keep the trigger covered.
I thought my post #8 was self explanatory enough without saying Glock and technically #14 was just a picture but I did notice 1911 had to come up soon after.

I've found cargo pocket carry to be best in a car. Its right where it would be if it was under your thigh but concealed and it is not going anywhere.

I haven't found cargo pocket carry to be very secure. I had a Desantis Nemesis Cargo that fit well, but the gun kept falling out of the holster when I'd sit down.

Those of you who may be setting it on the seat or some other "looser" place, keep in mind that a collision can send it somewhere else in the car where you may have difficulty finding it (such a collision may not even be accidental.)
Two of the agents in the 1986 FBI shootout in Miami were involved in collisions as they arrived at the scene and lost guns they had unholstered and placed in their laps in anticipation of battle. One of them fought with his little .38 snub BUG; the other never did acquire a gun with which to fight.

Depends on how you dress. I tend to wear cargo pants/shorts, and a .38 Snubby or LCP in the right hand thigh pocket is pretty easy to get to while driving.

I also have a jacket with a pocket on the inside, on the left, that, you guessed it, holds a .38 Snubby or LCP kinda like a vertical shoulder holster.

Lately, I've been carrying a polymer gun in a Serpa OWB, and haven't had any problems with the seatlbelt.

Almost forgot, did anyone else notice we made it all the way to post #13 without Glock being mentioned? That might be a record!

And you ruined it! You should have waited until a Glock was mentioned and then posted "post N was the first post about Glocks, so we had N-1 posts without Glocks, new record!"
Sorry Skribs. I'll PM you next time so we can watch and count together. Might be a fun new game to play here.

To stay on topic, I have a center console that is easy to access. I took an old mouse pad flipped it over so it was rubber side up, cut it to fit the shallow top compartment and store my pistol there when it's out of my holster. I carry OWB at about 3:30. I think either there or the console are equal in terms of speed of draw with the hip draw maybe being a tad faster.

That hidden slide out drawer that Stallone had in his street rod truck in The Expendables looked cool but anything like that (aftermarket hidden compartments) is now illegal in SC.

When I had a CCW in Virginia, I mounted a LH Fobus paddle holster to the driver's side of the transmission hump in my Jeep. I just used some short sheet metal screws and drove them right through the plastic paddle into the hump. I would just unholster my Glock 21 from my hip and place it in the Jeep-mounted Fobus.

It was secure, readily accessible, and hidden by my right leg from anyone standing at the driver's side window. I wish I had pics to post.

My Minnesota CCW is pending, and I will install another Fobus in my current Jeep when I'm legal..

My normal carry is a PF9 IWB on my right hip, and it's not too hard to get to while belted if I lean forward slightly. If I'm worried about it, I'll pull my shirt up to uncover it, but it still can't be seen while I'm in the car.
