I have narrowed my selections down to the Compact versions of the Glock, HK USP, S&W M&P and possibly the Browning model. Interested to know what opinions you have on these guns?

Given the four models you site, how much experience do you have with weapons of any type? Any what types are they?

Your experience will HIGHLY influence the choice only YOU must make. The Glock 26 is a nice weapon, as is the USP Compact, although there are some differences in the controls, the M&P is okay, but I'm not sure whether you're referring to the DAO Compact version of the FN when you say "Browning model." There really is no "compact" Browning HP...and I assume it is to that you're referring.

You can lead us, and we can give advice, but you will have to make the decision.

What advice we give...depends on you.

Tell us more.

Whatever gun fits YOU is the best. All of those guns you cite are reliable, robust designs.

(I might suggest the CZ P-01 as well, just sayin')

I love my Glock 19. Don't care for the 26 much, not significantly smaller than the G19. I feel it's a lot harder to shoot well, but that's just me.

Gittem all! You cant go wrong! I love a BHP (have 2), but am lusting after the rest. If $ is a factor, go to a range, and rent all 4, or borrow (sounds like a deal) from friends if possible.

Whenever someones asks "which gun" (about 200 times a month) my standard reply is - The one you shoot the best. :)
All of the ones you have listed are good quality guns.

Glock, HK USP, S&W M&P and possibly the Browning model.
Not sure which Browning you're referring to, but you cannot go wrong with the first three. Depends on which gun fits you best. I bought the Glock 19 and have never regretted it. Its probably the most quality you can buy for the money (some CZ owners may argue with that, and have a good point).

9mm -- I love all the variety in this caliber. I think that's why I have a few myself :D Of your choices, I really like the HK's -- USP/ USPc & my 2 cents worth, the P2000 ;)

I recommend Glock. Simple, tough, accurate, and comparatively inexpensive. I think HK and Smith are slightly overpriced.

I own a Glock 19 (compact 9mm), a Glock 26 (subcompact 9mm) and the full-size Smith and Wesson M&P 9mm.

I highly recommend any and all of these pistols. The M&P is very comfortable to shoot. I like the ergonomics on it better than the Glocks, but all of the pistols are accurate and reliable.

I also own a Springfield Armory EMP, which is an officer-sized 1911 (sorta) chambered in 9mm. It is a fantastic little piece, but rather pricey.

I would push you toward the M&P first, and either the Glock 19 or the 26, depending on your likelihood to CCW the weapon.

Good luck on your decision!

Having shot or owned all of them......

....it's an easy choice - USPc 9mm

out of the guns you list i have the glock both a 19 and a 26 good guns very reasonably priced mags i do love the look and feel of the uspc mags are a bit more exspensive and the m&p just doesnt apeal to me so i have no exspirience with it nor the fn

Personally I would rank the CZ 75 Compact/PO1 ahead of the ones you mentioned. Full six I would go with the CZ75B or CZ85. These are outstanding weapons utterly reliable and seldom anything but extremely accurate.

Take Care

Bob

A Glock of Course.

Compact = Glock 19
Sub Compact = Glock 26

I have them both. IMHO Glock makes the best 9mm pistol. HK & Sig in .40 and 1911's in .45.
