Inattention at the handloading bench

I suppose the silver lining is that I caught them at the bench. Easy enough to fix and now I have a check-list written out instead of just in my head.

As you age, you will end up needing a checklist to find your checklist. With any luck, you won't get to the point where you need a checklist to find your checklist to find your checklist.

In my first year of reloading I made the mistake of being in a hurry with my 30-06 deer loads on Sunday to be ready Monday. In the process I decapped my thumb on my left hand. The pin went in the top of my thumb thru the nail and I had lift the handle on the press to remove it from my thumb and the blood loss was surprising from such a small hole. I was probably 15 at the time. Lesson learned. Never got in a hurry again, never loaded while tired or sleepy, no TV, no visitors, triple check all settings on everything. 69 years old now and never load over 100 rounds at a time now.
