I had an under charge hand load in a 6" smith and wesson .38/357 revolver - the bullet is about halfway down the pipe.

Can anyone recommend a good gunsmith to fix this in the Indianapolis area? Preferably North side?

I'd just put oil down the barrel, get a strong wooden dowel, and try to hammer it out carefully.

Glad to be of help. Be glad you were shooting slow enough to notice and not stick more than one bullet and/or bulge the barrel. I've had to do this a few times with other peoples guns and their crappy reloads. And I've had two .22 rimfires with squib loads.

This bad reload was my fault - and the first bad handloads I have ever had. I was trying to make a light target load and obviously went too near the low end of the range. Too bad, because it is a very pleasant shooting and very accurate load.

When I first started reloading, a buddy who was teaching me said don't ever try to go too light or too heavy - stay in the middle of the recommended range. Only time I ever broke that rule I learned my lesson I guess.
