Is there any such thing as an inexpensive shot timer- one that does basic functions for $50 or $60? Any ideas?

Yeah, seems like there is NO secondhand market for shot timers. I'd like a microphone module and software to plug into my Palm handheld--that would be worht $50. The software has gotta be close to a no-brainer, but I don't do code.

I'm the same way on timers. There just isn't that big of a market to drum up competition. We are lucky in that the timers we have are of good quality and worth the money.

I have come close to buying the ~$130 Pact Club Timer several times, but have stopped, mainly cause I figure for a bit more I can get a Championship timer which has all those nifty built in time drills and things. Then for a bit more than that, you can go all out and get that one with the chrony and printer all built in! That's some techy geek goodness right there! Then all this gets canned because most ranges won't let me do things like draw from a holster and do fast speed shooting in the first place!

(Although, for me, I have a friend that has his own range, complete with a plate rack, so I am once again thinking about picking up a timer...)

I am looking hard at the new CED 8000 "blue box." Largely because it has memory for ten strings, so you can review several practice exercises at once and not have to stop to write times down.

RM- I picked up a Pocket Pro Timer from Midway last Oct\Nov they had them for just around $100. I have really enjoyed it so far. Seem to be getting a few more invites to go shooting too. As long as I bring the timer. The random start has helped with my draw. And being able to see the improvements. Help keep me focused during practice. It also reminds me of the saying that you can never miss fast enough. But it has been a $100 well spent. Richard

$100-130 is a lot to spend on a timer but truly a valuable training tool.

Even use it indoors dry-firing, PAR time to work on draw speed.
