I've wanted a World War2 style 1911 for years and I've been thinking about getting a Rock island 45's because they're cheaper than the Larger 1911 makers in the country (You know,Kimber,SA,Para-Ord.,ect,ect,) the modle I'm looking at cost $319.00 and was wondering if anybody has had or known anybody that has one.

Any feedback would be helpful.

A very decent pistol for the money.
Just so you know, these guns are not made at the Rock Island Arsenal, nor are they even made in Rock Island Illinois, they are made in the Filipino Islands

I have one and have been pleased with it. When people say they have lots or rounds through this-or-that particular pistol, I wish they would quantify that better. I've easily got 5k, probably closer to 6k now, through my RIA. In that time, I had to replace the extractor around the 2k mark. Around 3k the ejector sheared off, so I replaced that as well. At 3.5k, I noticed the recoil spring plug was cracking, so I replaced that too.

I've also replaced ALL of the springs as well as the hammer, hammer strut, sear, trigger and grip safety.

All-in-all I still think its been worth it because its been a great learning experience and (I think) it shoots great. In fact, I just made Expert in CDP (IDPA) with it a couple of weeks ago.

only about 130 rounds so far but seems to be doing fine. no real problems- except poor sights.

I love .45 auto pistols. I have an RI and I like it. It is not my favorite but it is nice. I had to change the grips because the stock ones were slippery. Only about 2-300 rnds so far, but no problems.
