Here in Massachusetts, our selection of handguns is limited due to the ridiculous "consumer protection" regulations in effect. Besides those pistols that meet the regulations, there's a hodge-podge of grandfathered pistols in circulation that by their very definition are rare or unique in this state.

I noticed a Llama Omni .45 ACP for sale, and immediately ignored it, but over the past week my curiosity grew. It looks like the Llama M82. After using the search function I gathered that most members on The High Road don't hold Llamas in much esteem, while some were apparently lucky enough to find one that works. My own experience was with a Commander-length 1911 style .45 that a friend of a friend owned. He loves it, it has "never" jammed for him, and he carries it for SD.

Does anyone have any information about this specific model?

At a gun show recently I saw an M82 and Omni in the flesh for the first time. They seem to be COMPLETELY different guns. The Omni grossly resembles a 1911, with Browning barrel and single stack mag, though it has a DA/SA trigger.

The M82 is essentially a Beretta 92 with a steel frame and enclosed slide.

Back to the Omni. If the price was right (low), I would consider one, just because the gun looked pretty neat. I don't think that all Llamas are necessarily junk - the M82 was beautifully made and is a common police gun in Spain. Plus, Llama still exists to service it, but you could check with Llama first.

You also could ask the guy to shoot it, first. Let us know if you get it.
