Super 9mm leaves 45 acp in the dust

10mm would be better and much more likely to be adopted than 9x23. There is almost no chance of anything other than 9mm, .40 or .45acp being adopted. Also, because soldiers have to use FMJ, 9x23 would likely be less effective than .45acp.

with flatpoint fmj, the high v of the 9x23 would be better than .45

even if the .45 were also flatpointed. The higher velocity creates more of a "spash effect" in tissues.

Well now, I own most of all we have discussed except the 10mm.
I can say that from all that post on a number of boards the 10mm is a good defensive round, not easily controlled by many, but good. It was dismissed by many departments because not all could control it.
The 9x23 is, to me, a very controllable caliber. Much easier than .45, 10mm, .357 SIG, .40, .45 gap.
Being a straight wall case it is VERY easy to reload.
The 9x23 deserves, did not say it will get it, a very serious consideration as a personal side arm, whether for a civilian or military.
True enough, never take a pistol to war as a primary weapons system. That said a sidearm for the military is a weapon for backup. the same as police have backup weapons and the reason I have a backup weapon in the truck.
The 9x23 will engage, with effect, at a greater distance than most and that IS a valuable thing.
I do not care what caliber you miss me with and I do not wish to be hit by any. If you shoot at me from 100 yards I am likely not to do anything but retreat [subject to circumstances], and, I think this is a true statement for most should we be engaged in an urban dispute which leads to threat of life.
Blessings
