I'm casually looking for some information on an old gun from some you who have a few years under your hats. I bought it from a buddy of mine who owns a gun shop.
This rifle is a replica of a Kentucky mountain rifle, judging by it's slightly angled down butt, octagonal barrell and full length stock. It's overall length is fifty inches, with the stock in two pieces joined with a brass strap. The lock has a fancy hammer and some etching. The first owner put a nice brass patch box in it and did a good job.
The gun has some acne around the nipple, which is frozen in, and the it shoots .45 cal connicals. It shoots straight and accurate to an amazing degree. On top of the barell it has writing: Sears Roebuck and Co. Chicago Ill. Made in Japan Minoku. The serial number is 3236 evidently.
Sears has not sold guns in many years, so I'm curious as to how old this thing is. It has no collector value, but it looks neat, so I'm using it for a wall hanging. Anyone who knows anything can e mail me at [email protected]. Thanks. Gene
