I had one for awhile. They are reliable, but not particularly accurate (probably a sight issue, mostly). They are also tiny and powerful so I liked mine.
Shooting the 9x18 round in such a small pistol is an experience that should not be missed. It's a lot of fun, but be careful where you put the fingers of your weak hand if you are using a two-handed grip. The muzzle-blast can sting you if your fingers are too far foreward.
That price is not terrible but see if you can get them down a bit. I remember paying a little less than that for mine, but forget the exact number. Something like $150, I think...
The trigger is a little weird. The first DA pull runs about 20lbs+ and the following SA pull is about 1.5lbs. It's easy to "double" if your trigger control is not perfect.
Run around, $150. tack driving accurate, heavy DA trigger, easy to fix buy a #18 ppk main spring from wolf (around $3.) Direct drop in fit. The poles claim they did not copy the PPK, but it's "very similar". Great gun, all steel, deep sexy blue, one of the best value's out there on a 9x18. There's a member around here who's knowledgeable about these. It's M2Carbine, I think is his userid. I bought 2 of these P-64s and they're nice, well-made guns, fully suitable for carry. The Makarovs are a better fit, IMO. I do recommend reading up at the P-64 Resource board. Lots of valuable information there. Mine are 1968 and 1973 vintages.
Marginally. And that's due largely to the shorter butt and (slightly) shorter barrel. You might say the two use the same design principles. Nevertheless, they're good buys for the money.
Ammo availablility is not really consistant. I can easily find a good steady supply of Sellier & Bellot, but this is premium stuff and costs nearly as much as 9x19. The Russian stuff coming into the country now is cheaper and I can usually dig it up at gunshows. The Makarov is the easiest to shoot. Sights are better (but still not up to modern "combat" standards).
The P 64 is a great little pocket pistol. Accurate and powerful but use 95 grain bullet loads nothing heavier, the 115 grain HP Mak loads punish the gun and the shooter.
