I know these are two very different rifles, but I decided to post them together because I know the Galil was the Israeli standard for quite a while and also I've seen copies of the SA-58 with the controls written in Hebrew (so I'm assuming they were adopted in some capacity in Israel at some point).

First off, the Galil's. Being obsessed with AK's as I am, I knew I could only stay away from Galil's for so long, but I have I feeling I might keep my distance for a while because of the price, are there Galil's availabe for under $1800? Besides the fact that this is a seriously high amount of money for a second generation AK style rifle, I was wondering what what was taken from the Kalashnikov's and put into the Galil's and what what used from other rifles.

Also, with the SA-58's, if anyone could just give a general run-down of these gear looking rifles, I'd be more than happy. The only thing i know about them is that they look like FAL's (without the ultra-slick orange furniture) and are more expensive than they should be.

"SA-58" is a model of FAL made by DSA. Israel used a FAL variant at one time, and a lot of Israeli-surplus parts have come into the US. Many of these parts have been built up into rifles.

Ah he means the STG-58. In the U.S. that usually means a parts kit gun put together from a variety of differently sourced parts but mostly from the Austrian FALs.

The SA-58 is an all new FAL made from parts manufactured entirely in the U.S. by DSA.
