I am currently thinking about getting a Springfield Armory XD .45acp. I was wondering what kind of experience people are having with this gun. Also if there are any suggestions to any other possible handguns to look at, that would nice as well. Any information is appreciated.

Heard nothing but Great things from everyone that has one. I myself have the XD9 which i love, and i am thinking of purchasing the .45 also. I love the feel of it in my hand, and i have never had a single jam, and shoot mostly blazers through it.

Welcome to a really great gun forum! Hope you learn as much as I certainly have.

With regards to your first post, this should keep you busy for a while! :) These (and more) are readily available by using the "Search" link up in the green bar above each page.

My XD 45ACP Tactical is great! It seem's most right handed shooter's shoot low left with it at first & left handed shooters shoot low right. After you get used to it, It seem's to be a very good gun! I don't know why that is, but it happens.

I should have mentioned that I own a 4" Service XD45. It has been wonderful from the get-go. No problems, just smiles! :) :) :) :)

If you get one, budget in some nice leather or Kydex. The Gear sux. The pistol didn't deserve to be saddled with such junk. A third magazine would have been much nicer.

I recently acquired an XD45. All I can say is that my beloved SIG P220 is going to start feeling neglected. Accurate, easy to shoot, no hiccups whatsoever.

I still can't believe they managed to get a 13rd double-stack mag of .45ACP that fits the hand that well. But somehow they did it.

Greeting's All-

I will have to second the opinions of my friends nitesite and Bryan P, as the Springer XD- .45 ACP is fastly earning its place among America's top
pistols. As for myself, I own the 4" service model and it has performed
flawlessly right from the start. And, like Dave said "the GEAR holster sux";
and "they should have included the third magazine". I ended up buying two
additional magazines; so now I have a total of four. Lastly, it will run neck
N' neck with my famed West German SIG-SAUER P220A; and I've never
been one too care much for plastic pistols~!:D

I'm getting rid of mine. Not a bad gun, never had a problem with it. I just don't really like it. I gave it a chance, and it never let me down, it just never impressed me either. It's a good gun, I don't think it lives up to all the hype it's been getting though.

I'm a 1911 guy and this was my first polymer pistol. I shot a rented Glock several years ago and was not impressed.

After renting an XD45 Tactical (5" bbl) Model, I fell in love and bought an XD45 Service (4" bbl) Model on my way home!

After shooting a couple hundred flawless rounds through this pistol, it has become my favorite, as well as my daily carry gun.

I had originally planned on getting a trigger job and adding TruGlo TFO sights to this piece after firing it for reliability but have decided it's not going anywhere. The trigger is fine just as it is and the stock sights are fine for my purposes.

The fact that this pistol holds 14 rounds (13 + 1) of .45 ACP, quite comfortably, is a BIG bonus!

The best 45 I have shot. plus my wife has shot a few of my 1911 and hate it the first time we shot the XD45 SERVICE 4" she shot 40 rounds and asked the other day when we are going back. Were going to buy a xd9 to have cheaper practice. great guns. For less than $600 its money well spent.

I have owned and shot over 50 handguns in my lifetime and all I can say is that had the XD45 been the first handgun I had ever bought, it would also have been the last handgun I ever bought....yes I think it is that good. :D Accurate, reliable and incredibly fun to shoot.

grips for xd

Thanks for all the information. It has kept me reading a lot. Another question I have is what are your peoples thought for grips for the xd? I have been looking at some of the rogue slip ons and similar type grips. What is your opinions?

You'll find that the slip-on rubber grips by Hogue and Pachmayr are the only option for the XD grips, unless you resort to stick-on, skateboard tape-type grips. If you want finger grooves, I've heard that they work fine. Myself, I find the grips, as they are, work out quite well. As usual, YMMV.

I've had mine for 4-5 months and put through ~700 rds of various ammo including ~150 rds of Wolf, not a single problem. I'm a 1911 guy myself, but I can shoot my XD45 almost as good. I can't say the XD has over taken my 1911's, but it's a close second. :D Seems to be a trend, just my opinion, that those who like 1911's generally like the XD45.
