Insane Gunbroker listing of the day-

That is crazy, but H&R's have been really climbing lately. I had one of their 'built competently in a basement' .22 revolvers years ago, and it was worth about the $100 I paid. The 999 is neat because it's break-open, but I'll never think of H&R's as 'high-quality' guns...

I don't complain about over priced guns, I just walk away. I have seen buyer's at gun shows make a scene when they see (to them) a gun they want at a higher price than they want to pay. Pretty silly and they look pretty foolish. An example was a M-1 Garand with sling and after market bayonet. Seller wanted $2100.00. High? yes. The man who wanted it threw a fit when the seller would not come down $500.00. He looked pretty stupid screaming "You'll never get that!". OK, he doesn't get the price. Why do you care?

I look at GunBroker regularly, and have noticed more ridiculously overpriced guns than usual. I generally think that I am just out of touch on prices, and that of course people do not want to risk getting less than top dollar, but there have been some real jaw-droppers lately. NIGHTLORD40K's Sportsman is a good example. I also spotted this MAB Model D 32 automatic for a mere $700:

I like the use of the phrase "Bring Back" in the title, despite the fact that it has the prominent adjustable sight needed for importation under GCA '68, and that the description says it is an early model with a steel frame, even though they ALL had steel frames. Salesmanship lives!

He means he brought it back from the LGS.

Sheesh ... you could have bought one of those a year ago for $450. Actually, I had a chance to, and passed on it because I thought the price too steep. What did I know????

I saw a post on another forum, a 2-1/2" round butt M66-1 S&W revolver went for a shade over $3000 on GB. General opinion is it was a shill post, but nevertheless will drive prices upwards for similar guns. This particular gun had aftermarket stocks, obvious wear and grime, no box, papers or original tools that make a price go up.

I've noticed that all prices for older hunting rifles are up $100-150 across the board.
I saw a Remington 760 go for $950 last week. They are great guns but not $1k great.

Yikes!

I've been going to gun shows for 30 years now. About the only reason I go is that it is a pleasant waste of time (well, not lately). I've never once bought a firearm at one, nearly all of the vendors want insane prices for their stuff. I've seen a few good deals here/there of the years, but not many. I more so like looking for oddball components or parts that I can get no tax and no shipping.

I noticed that on Rem 760/7600s too. 50-100% more than they were in March. Sucks because Rem is no more and I like the pump rifles (apparently so do many others)

Oddly, the ones with more inherent value like the odd chamberings and Grice limited runs are LESS valuable, marginally speaking. IOW, the run of the mill 30-06 rifle has gone up 100% and the rare ones might have gone up only 25% It might be a good time to snag one of those. Same thing with rarer Marlins.

I showed that one to my wife and she got a good laugh/eye-roll out of it. She pointed out the parts kit didn't include a barrel - which means it's likely LEO turn in from state like Jersey or NY where they destroy the frames and barrels and sell the rest because they don't want civvies to own guns. Seller has 0 available/111 sold. Seriously!?!

That's not quite a laughable as the $1200 Ruger Old Army I saw a few years ago at a gun show. Didn't even look unfired either.

Post #2 said H&R's aren't high quality guns, he's right, but they're okay quality, better than any Bryco, Lorcin, or Davis ever made.

Saw a S&W 640-1 listed on GB for $2000. No bidding on this one, that's the price. Not unbelievable...greed taking advantage of need. But most people in need have chosen to ignore the political climate of the last 30+ years and may have to pay dearly to get what they missed out on.

I'm tempted to list a few spare S&W snubs, all starting at a penny, to see what the "woke" panic buyers are willing to spend.
