Inside a Bank carry illegal

I've seen this posted several times now. Is this true? Is there a source of documentation. If this is true I've been a bad boy!

It isn't true in Texas nor Oklahoma. If you are referring to a federal law then there isn't one.

Carry in a bank is legal in VA, though a lot of them have posted "No Guns" signs.

If it were illegal it would porbably be listed under the places you cant go at packing.org. The idea that its a federal crime or that all FDIC banks is a felony or whatever seems to be bunk.

Check your state laws. It's illegal in NC.

It's okay to carry in SC banks unless they are legally posted. Since they changed the law concerning the sign I haven't seen a legal sign. Granted, I don't get out much but I haven't heard of very many either.

In my CWP class, they said quite the opposite, and even listed Wachovia as a CC friendly bank.

I can't imagine why anyone would need to carry a gun in a bank.

After all, it's not like you would be carrying large sums of money in or out of the bank ....

I have had bank security guards tell me I couldn't carry - while working as an armored truck messenger! I just laughed at them. I looked it up after that, and there is no federal prohibition for carrying in a financial institution that is not a Federal Building. Since even the Federal Reserve is a private company,( :< ) , nothing stops you Federally. AZ has no restrictions on bank carry, as long as "the sign" isn't up.

In fact a couple of the tellers know I carry & were VERY glad to see me come through the door one day when there was a guy just standing there that was making the hair on everyone's neck stand up. You could feel the tension just evaporate when he walked out the door. I told them to call the police with the licence # just as a heads up, who knows if they did or not.

If they ever posted the place though... well, there are other banks in town.

I think what many people fail to understand is that banks are private businesses, just like a gas station or a book store. The reason I have transfered all my accounts to my current bank is simple, they let me carry my gun into their establishment. I have turned about 5 other people onto this bank for this very reason. I wonder if I'll get free tote bag for that?

Okay in Utah.
I bet its a state to state thing. Some states allow local businesses to prohibt concealed carry...of course in most instances its trespassing...they have to catch you armed, then warn you and tell you to leave...come back again its tresspass.....

Hmmm... Packing.org doesn't show any specific prohibition against carry into a bank in GA...
