Hey guys I came across this writeup tonight and found it interesting:

www.gunguys.com/?p=1588 (don't click, they don't deserve any traffic)

In the article they state " It's likely that they didn't know the weapon
didn't belong in the mall (even though it seems common sense to most of
us)"

Of course I immediately had to go to the front page and see if they had any commentary on the offduty officer with a concealed weapon that stopped a shooter who had already shot 9 people.
And the shooting has ignited debate on both sides of the gun issue. One of the first responders to the scene was an off-duty police officer carrying a concealed weapon, and his actions against the gunman eventually helped police to end the violence. Gun guys are jumping on that as a reason to support dangerous concealed carry laws.
(snip)
The problem with that argument, of course, is that whenever there are firearms around, people die. Concealed weapons laws may be able to arm experienced knowledgeable people like this off-duty police officers (who, in certain situations, may be able to actually do some good after disaster has already occured), but they also arm criminals. Loose gun laws are often the reason why people like Talovic are able to obtain their weapons in the first place. More guns in “lawful” hands may work as a last ditch effort at ending the killing with more killing, but as a solution, it lacks. Fighting fire with fire just leaves us all with more fire to put out.
That seems to sum of the thinking of most anti's very well. They believe that concealed carry laws allow criminals to carry when they would be expressly forbid from carrying and carry anyway. They believe the police are the only ones professional enough to be able to defend themselves. And they believe they will be able to magically make guns disappear so we will all be safe as the english.

This is nothing more than another variation on the theme that "GUNS KILL."
It is a specious argument, that is put forth by the logic impaired to rally against a false fear.
The true fear that these people hold is responsibility. Owning a firearm carries with it a burden of responsible behavior that these kind of people do not understand and actually fear. They are so caught up in the mindless "double-speak" of the left that things like personal responsibility and self-reliance strike fear in their hearts. This fear of responsibility is then displaced to the inanimate object that threatens them with that fear.
It is a sign 'o the times, for they are a changing.
The time to stop the progression of this type of thinking is past (they are already in control), the time actively fight to push this kind of baseless, illogical fear back into the basement where it should be has come.
Take somebody shooting, give someone a copy of "The Federalist Papers," read the Constitution to your children. All we have to lose is our country.

I can't help but think of that DEA guy.

"I'm the only one professional enough to carry this Glock fowty."

Antis are antis. I got called a Jackass the other day for questioning one. They typically aren't into articulate and intelligent discussions about the matter.

whenever there are firearms around, people die.

More guns in “lawful” hands may work as a last ditch effort at ending the killing with more killing, but as a solution

These are two good examples of the oversimplified arguments that I hear from a vast majority of antis.

Whenever firearms are around, people die? Hmmm.... I've been to hundreds of gun shows, met atleast a couple hundred shooters, and have been in the presence of thousands of them over the years at the range. Not once have I seen anybody die. Heck I've never seen an ND or an injury.

Ending killing with more killing? Well yeah, what else are you supposed to do when a crazed maniac is randomly killing innocent people? Walk up to him in body armor and tell him that you feel his pain and would like to talk?

They say ignorance is bliss. I guess simplicity is, too.

whenever there are firearms around, people die

HOLY CRAP ON A STICK!

I've been carrying a gun all night!

AAAHHH!!

Okay...deep breath....not dead yet...I think I might make it....ARRRRGGHHGHG......

Okay, I didn't die. Burrito I had for dinner just disagreed with me. *whew*

SERIOUSLY. Reading stuff like this makes my head want to explode. That some people can't grasp the simple logic of how having the means to defend yourself can be useful...

I tried getting inside the mind of an anti once; I got too claustrophobic and couldn't find an exit :p

I've found that very few antis ever change or can be reasoned with. Most have an unreasonable fear of firearms and think no one other than soldiers or police should be armed. Like has been said, according to their oversimplified reasoning anyone else owning a gun is a potentially dangerous felon.
As far as guns being dangerous I actually agree with them. If the damned things weren't I sure as heck wouldn't be carrying one every day when I leave the house.:p

I had to wipe some coffee off the keyboard after reading a couple of those responses!:what: :D
I guess the antis can still not carry all they want to. But I would rather know that if SHTF while I was around, that I might have a slight chance of making it out alive if even it meant carrying one of those bad, evil, killing guns!
I guess I will just never understand the mindset of an anti.:scrutiny:

Sorry, I couldn't resist clicking the link.

On this, we agree with the gun guys: signs posted in front of malls don’t work. You can’t just put up a sign and expect everyone to follow it– especially people who think it’s possible to safely carry firearms around in public places. They obviously don’t operate on logic.

But what you can do it cut off gun access at the source– make carrying concealed weapons illegal.

"If you make guns illegal, only criminals will have guns.
The solution is to make guns illegal."

Inside the mind (sic) of an anti.

Ok, time to roll out some statistics here. Not that they should have any bearing on our 2A rights, BUT:

Click on this link: http://www.michigan.gov/documents/msp/CCWAnnualReport_181416_7.pdf

36,754 CPL permits were issued between July 1, 2005 and June 30, 2006. Now scroll down and read through the statistics on offenses. Keep in mind that these stats include ALL Michigan CPL holders, not just the 36,754 issued in that one year period. Also note that the vast majority of violations are not firearm related at all, and that the majority of violations that ARE firearms related are incredibly minor, such as not declaring a concealed pistol when approached by an officer.

If I didn't know any better, I'd think I was reading binary code! :neener:

Show that to the genius whose comment is quoted above.

Sorry, just wanted to throw this out there:

Fighting fire with fire just leaves us all with more fire to put out.

Just shows how little they know about anything. I went through wildland firefighter certification a year ago, fighting fire with fire is one of the best approaches in many situations. Just another example of faulty logic.

I tried getting inside the mind of an anti once; I got too claustrophobic and couldn't find an exit

I tried that once myself, but it was too narrow and I couldn't get in. And I am a very slender person.

I think I have come to the point that if any anti starts a rant, just tell them "TO GROW UP."
We do not let children have dangerous objects because they lack the maturity and reasoning to use them safely. Once you are an adult, you are responsible for your actions.

Holy Crap!!

From the article:

Concealed weapons laws may be able to arm experienced knowledgeable people like this off-duty police officers (who, in certain situations, may be able to actually do some good after disaster has already occured), but they also arm criminals.

Now, just how in the hell did they arrive at THAT conclusion???! Can somebody PLEASE explain to me how concealed carry laws arm criminals????

The above quote is a pure, unadulterated textbook example of sheer ignorance!

Sometimes I swear this country is ate up with the dumb-ass! :scrutiny:

Wow... "EVERY time there are guns around, people die"

there were 7 (yes, SEVEN) people in my house all night... Me, my GIrlfriend, 4 of her kids, and one grandkid...

there were also over a hundred firearms in the house... quiteq few were LOADED...

this is a regular occurrane at Chez Hemi...

NOT ONE SINGLE DEATH... WOW... I must be lucky...

The problem with that argument, of course, is that whenever there are firearms around, people die.

Sentient mobile guns folks, whenever they are around LOOKOUT! Kill humans, kill, KIIIIILLLLL!!!!! I love the "of course" as if this bobble-headed nonsense is established fact.

"The problem with that argument, of course, is that whenever there are firearms around I piss myself in fear. So please cater to my lack of intestinal and testicular fortitude since, of course, the world revolves around my wishes and fantasies."

What these guys lack in smarts they make up for in cowardice.

Wow, and they call themselves "Gun Guys"? If they believe that guns being around causes people to die, they must be planning something big! After all, they are "GUN GUYS"!!!

It's no good to get into the mind of an anti (even a gun toting anti). There will always be a sign on the door reading, "NO VACANCY"!

Also, why do people feel that the off duty cop is more qualified than many gun owners to carry concealled? It must be the shiny metal badge that does it. After all, no other gun owners spend time at the range. No gun owners other than cops go through rigorous training. Only the police and military should have guns!!!

Anti-gun people are generally so dumb that I just close up when one
starts spewing this kind of nonsense. My brain starts to hurt and I just
walk away shaking my head.

You can't talk sense to them - you may as well try to convince a carrot
its a turnip.

The problem with that argument, of course, is that whenever there are firearms around, people die.

Well then the solution, of course, is to do nothing because all of us "gun guys" will kill off each other and ourselves. Problem solved. The world becomes a peaceful nirvana...right?

Concealed weapons laws may be able to arm experienced knowledgeable people like this off-duty police officers (who, in certain situations, may be able to actually do some good after disaster has already occured), but they also arm criminals.

Yes you wouldn't believe the number of CRIMINALS that walk into the SHERIFF'S OFFICE, fill out forms with their PERSONAL INFORMATION, go through the BACKGROUND CHECKS, get their FINGERPRINTS AND MUGSHOTS taken, and wait to get their approved CHL in the mail.

Some anti-gun people almost have a child-like mentality. I've talked to some and it is rather disconcerting.
And hearing stories of the vehemence of some of these people is unbelievable.
The most frightening thing is that some of these moonbats get into political office. :uhoh:
