i need some insurance for my reloading equipment and supplies, any ideas ,was wanting to keep my homeowner insurance out of this

I pay for home owner insurance to insure my home and it's contents. I don't care what they may think of it, nor would I pay for another policy to cover some of the same items properly covered by the first policy. ??

this is in a detached building, its bigger than my house. only 6 ft away from house, but falls under a whole other set of rules,, it is very expensive .

Are you a NRA member?? You should be.:) If you are check into a rider on the needed reloading items and what your firearms in there would cost to be insured. I bet it will be a lot less than a local insurance agent. A lot of policies only will insure a couple firearms as far as value, check your policy to see.

Would a covered walkway 'attach' it to your house? :scrutiny:

My H.O. insurance includes property structures, fences and other assets. Jewelry and other specific 'high dollar' items have to have a 'small additional cost' rider for specific coverage. Include the reloading equip in your "inventory" of home-owner belongings like "tools".

My renter's policy cover's all my stuff, and then I just buy riders for little cost to expand my coverage limits. Most any policy I've seen covers your stuff whether it's in your home, or out in the field from, accidental damage, theft, or fire.

Make sure you specify replacement coverage or they'll only give the depreciated value when presenting a claim.

My Dad sold insurance for 45 yrs..

I am no expert in Kentucky homeowners coverage (I am in my own state), but generally speaking your homeowners will cover your personal property up to 1,000 feet away. 6 feet away in a seperate building is not an issue.

Erie Insurance (good company and they are in KY, I think) covers personal property anywhere in "the coverage territory" which is usually USA, Canada, and US Territories.

Why do you think you need special coverage?

Appertunate structures are tricky......consult your agent. keep your insurance company invloved in, not excluded from, your risk profile.

I was renting a house that burned 3 years ago. Make sure you water your Christmas tree! And make sure you have more insurance than you think you need. Just my 2 cents...

As long as it is NOT a business, it should be covered by HOI. Some insurance companies are anti-gun. Find another or suggest you might and see what they say.

thanks i will check out ERIE.
i am not your average reloader, my insuance, with addition
coverage for reloading equip, supplies and my general tools and content, was 30.00/1000. this will cost more than my house insurance in the end, just looking for a seperate co. for my reloading needs. i have been reloading 25 + years, start adding up your stuff, if you are like me. you wouldn't want to buy it again
