Interarms Mauser P08 Luger American Eagle

bc1023, does the extra mass of that heavy barrel affect function, as it is part of what must recoil to break the Luger's 'knee'?
Never saw one of those!

There was probably some tweaking necessary to balance the recoil spring stiffness against different barrel weights. There are even heavier Luger barrels out there -- consider the Luger carbines.

AIM Surplus has a Swiss 06/24 (curved frontstrap) .30 for $1995.

The Carbine has an auxiliary Spring in the foreend.

Heaviest original barrel was apparently the LP08 Artillery 8"

There were different Mauser Parabellum pistols made after WWII, the ones on the 06 Swiss pattern and P.08 reworks. The 06 pattern in 9mm Para is an excellent gun and by pure chance I have loaded my mags up for the next range visit tomorrow.

Of all my other Parabellums I have only kept the best shooter, an East German VoPo P.08. I can shoot htis gun as well as my P210-6 with my reloads.

The refinish job was very well done and made it almost "affordable" as it removed any collector interest. I actually really like the result, though I can appreciate a gorgeous straw blue too.
I saw a black epoxy coated, non matching Russian capture at the last gunshow for just over $2K. o_O
that’s what I’m hoping for. Something not collectable and have a good time shooting the snot out of it!

Alright, they agreed on $1500 from $1800. I put down $500… and should have it after Christmas!!!!

excited

You did well and I am sure that you will enjoy shooting the gun. Is it the short or long version that you are getting and we will need photos and a range report! From the toggle imprint you can guesstimate round count and see if hot ammo was used.

The post war Mauser guns were finished and fitted well and the trigger bars were also carefully fitted, giving good trigger pull characteristics. The 7,65 Para, or .30 Luger, is a very accurate cartridge and particularly doing well at extended distances like 50m but Parabellums in that calibre are selling for less. Walther still made a few P38 after WWII in .30, mostly for the Italian market but they are rare and command a premium.

They had two of them, one with perfect blueing and the American Eagle was very pronounced but, one scratch near the toggle and no box.

The other was in perfect condition but the blueing was not as rich, older 1971 year, zero scratches and original box with all the fillings but only one mag for both with both gun.

I bought the better condition one without the box.

the look to be 5”-ish barrels

In .30 and with the long sight radius this will be a real tack driver and a pleasure to shoot. The mags with the Mauser logo are kind of rare but Mecgar supposedly made them and their mags are every bit as good.
I have three Mauser marked mags and some fxo and 1001, as well as Mecgar magazines and my guns work with any of them.

I would recommend to get a magazine loader tool that also worked as the screwdriver for the grip screws and the firing pin disassembly. Without it I cannot load the mags to full capacity silently but cussing and swearing can be heard!

it’s 100% going to be a shooter! Can’t wait to get some brass and dies!

I think you should scrape up the rest of the funds and get it now. It’s not fair to make us wait till after Christmas
