Interesting take on military S&T in the modern environment

In the rise of Nazism, the universities were in the early forefront of supporting Hitler. They passed anti-Jewish regulations before the laws snapped into place.

Social psychological research has demonstrated that even 'educated' people can become monsters quite easily. Across Europe in the 1800-1900's, the educated produced tons of bigoty, racism and hatred.

In the Muslim world, we see it. Educated Japanese became servants and believers in their country.

From studies I read on civilization failure, a culture won't give up its beliefs unless faced with total destruction. Even then, some cultures hang on to the drivel and are destroyed or fail.
