I know years ago folks had asked Hodgdon about its use in handguns, and were told that they did not find it suitable in that application because it was "peaky". Later then, we got some ADI/Hodgdon generated Cowboy loads for this propellant, and that is all I can find.
Anyone have any published 45 auto and 9mm data for International Clays that may have been recently released? I have been using a very light charge I worked up using an Aussie IPSC recommendation with a 200 LSWC, and it works quite well, and very clean, but am interested in loads more along the lines of std service loads in the 45 and 9mm.
IMO, this propellant would be fantastic in moderate 9mm and 45 auto loads by virtue of its burning rate and bulk density. It has fairly large flakes, but also mixed in are longish flat strands that may hinder accurate small volumetric metering, and perhaps this is why data with small charges were not developed?
The stuff works great in Hi-Vel 12 gauge 1 1/8 loads, and would like to use my 4 lb jug of it in metallic applications.
