I am having issues tracking down the correct piece to attach a sling to my Interstate Arms 982.

Any idea what exact parts I need to put a sling on this? I want to use the existing tapped hole and I'd like to use a replacement cap. I got an 870 kit and the threads are different, the screw for the rear looks like a wood screw.

Any help is GREATLY appreciated!!!

Thank you sir,

Do you have any idea what cap will work to replace the existing one on the mag tube?

I got a Grovtec push button magazine cap swivel set for an 870 and the cap does not seem to fit.

The screw was obviously wrong....hmm

The machine screw type swivel base that fits the rear brass insert should fit through the hole in the magazine cap also, if you shorten it to fit correctly so it doesn't protrude too far and put an appropriately sized nut on it with a little LocTite... worked for me, anyway. Uncle Mike's used to sell the machine screw swivel bases and nuts by the dozen, but I don't see that option listed on their web site any more.

I used to work for Interstate Arms. If you are still having problems, call up and ask to speak with one of the warehouse guys. They should know all about parts compatibility for that model.

The short-shanked ones are for the front swivel on Mossbergs 500s- there's a hole drilled and tapped in the barrel ring for them.

I'd use the 1/2" shank version - I don't know what thread size fits the brass bushing in the stock, it might be a good idea to call the warehouse and see if they have any of the sets available for your gun.
