Introduced my wife to shooting

I talked my wife into going shooting. I live in a rural area but drove her to a regular indoor range because I thought the enviroment would be more enjoyable for her. She agreed to go but was not looking forward to it. After we got to the range and she got to shooting, everything changed. She really enjoyed it and spent 2.5 hours shooting my Neos, Ceiner conversion 1911, Colt .380 government, and my 586 with .38's. She shot up most of the .22 ammo that I brought and all of my .380 that I brought!!

She was real happy with the trip and wants to go shooting about once a month with me now. BTW, she shoots very well. In fact, as well as the majority of shooters already after just one range trip plus one short "how-to" before we went to the range.

The only down sides so far are that I think I've lost my Neos to her and she is burning up all my ammo! Also, she tried some other guns at the range as well and wants a .380 Sig! (She has expensive tastes!)

I've very surprised and happy about this turn of events and would have never thought it. She is a natural shooter and took to it instantly.

Date night

I hope to make this same post tomorrow as I am taking my wife out for a date tonight (we have two very small boys and it is so hard to get free time) and before dinner, I have convinced her to learn to shoot. She has NEVER even held a loaded weapon. Reluctance does not even describe her attitude right now. I plan to start her with a rental .22, move her to a GP100 with .38s and then to the new SIG228.
I can only hope and pray that she takes to shooting like it sounds your wife has. You are very lucky.

You guys are EXTREMELY lucky. You'll find out she's your best shootin buddy. My wife and I shoot regularly. When she can't , she has no heartburn about me shooting all I want. Because she is an enthusiast now, she understands. She shoots up my ammo also. This is a good thing. I have every reason to get more, and maybe a new gun now and then. Actually quite a bit. She loves it. I read all these "macho" types talking about how they wouldn't let their ex-wives tell them how to spend "their"money. They need to listen to themselves. Oh well, that's them. Keep your wife involved and life will be good!
p.s. some guys talk about how their wives run around in babydoll's and ankle holsters. I wonder if Fredricks of hollywood carries holsters hmmm.

Good for you folks!

You made me stop to remember the first time I took my ex-wife shooting. She was nervous and wary, and had to watch me shoot awhile before she was willing to give it a decidedly ginger, skittish try. After her first shot, she looked at me as if to marvel, "You mean that's all there is to it?"

She never became a very good shot, sad to say. She was a natural left-hander whose mother "fixed" her in early childhood, so every tool and gadget felt awkward to her. She became a proficient, reasonably accurate shot. When we went our separate ways, she had her own .357 magnum revolver and carry permit.

The majority of women I've introduced to shooting have turned out to be pretty good shots, possibly because they didn't embark upon shooting with lots of preconceived notions.

You can't beat women who keep and bear arms.
