For all you war-is-good all the time guys... They estimate that it will require $25B of wealth diverted from other expenditures to fix New Orleans.

We waste $25B of our wealth on Iraq each month!!!

Ask yourself - why do you love the * so much that you would give them (FREE) $25B of your wealth each month? Wars, like hurricanes, are not free. Someone has to pay.

Why would a county do such a stupid thing? Why would intelligent people go along with it?

We deserve the bankruptcy that is coming to our nation.

"Why would a county do such a stupid thing? Why would intelligent people go along with it?"

Because band-aid's don't work.

If money is the only thing you worry about, move to Switzerland. They haven't attended a war in a few hundred years. Don't seem to be too upset about accepting gold teeth from recently departed concentration camp inmates either.

Why do intelligent people build cities where there should be water?

And no I am not ripping on New Orleans, I'm just saying by that logic its not worth the cost either.

The world's been starting to swirl down the bowl in the Middle East.

Iraq is our effort to plug the drain before the swirls sucks the rest of us into it.

Um.... I don't know about you, but I prefer to flush the toilet when I am done instead of devising ways to plug the drain to keep it around.

Why do intelligent people build cities where there should be water?

Why do intelligent people live on active fault lines?

etc...

you get the idea

Iraq is a black hole. Civilizing them is impossible. Even if it were possible, why do you want to pay for it? You go to work every day. The gov't steals half your income in taxes. They give it to the sandmonkeys in Iraq for free.

Since the definition of a slave is one who can not keep the fruit of his own labor, our leaders have made us Iraqi slaves.

It's not that we love the * so much.

It's that the Middle East is such a pit of despotism and jihadism and fascism, that unless we do spend the money and bring massive change to the region, there will be, guaranteed, an unending stream of major terror strikes against Western Civilization.

See 9-11 and Madrid and the London subways and the aborted attack on Paris and the Beslan school massacre and the Bali disco bombings and the propaganda beheadings and the Daniel Pearl murder and all the other long, sad list of jihadist attacks.

There must be better materials with which to plug the drain than American cash and American lives.

Wasn't most of the property destroyed by Katrina insured? Let the insurance companies cough up the money. They've been collecting premium dollars all these years, we haven't.

You want to flush the world? That was my analogy.

Ok - go take a massive dump. Don't flush! Wipe up and take a look. Ok thats what we've got now.

NOW flush..... wait.... wait..... ok now, see? The poop is gone and the bowl is filled with mostly clear water.

What I am saying is stop trying to save the turds of this world. Flush the toilet. Sure you may take some of that formerly clear water with the poop, but guess what? The toilet will refill its self with mostly clear water.

Flushing the toilet cleans out the toilet bowl, it does not destroy the house it is in. ;)

Oh, that's very interesting and telling indeed.

By the time I read this post and responded to it, "sandmonkeys" had apparently been replaced with simple * in the original.

If I had known that * used to be "sandmonkeys" orginally, I would not have wasted my time.

If it's the expenses your concerned with, why aren't you ranting about the money we're wasting each month on the failed "War on Poverty"?

The amount of money this nation spends on its various welfare programs dwarfs the amount spent on defense. You can argue the merits of defending the nation, but I really doubt you can morally (or legally) justify the wealth redistribution programs that we've been forced to endure since the days of FDR.

If nothing else, look at the results:
We've had only one major attack on US soil since WWII, despite the huge volume of nations/peoples who have wanted to do us harm. Yet there are just as many poor people today as there have ever been, despite the trillions we've spent (wasted) trying to lift people out of poverty.

EDIT: When will I learn? This thread is a complete waste of time...

"stop trying to save the turds of this world"

There was a time where the American colonies were considered "turds of the world" too.

Is this what passes for intelligent comments at your high school.
If so there would be no way to give a reasoned response to any of your questions that you would understand
Since the definition of a slave is one who can not keep the fruit of his own labor
Nope
Slave
1 : a person held in servitude as the chattel of another
2 : one that is completely subservient to a dominating influence
3 : a device (as the printer of a computer) that is directly responsive to another

The funny thing is SandMonkey is a cleaned up version of what he wanted to say

There was a time where the American colonies were considered "turds of the world" too.

Yeah! Where were the Iraqis when we were fighting off the British? They didn't help us depose our dictator, why should we help them? :neener:

Iraq did not exist at that time.
So far as doing what we are doing in Iraq, the idea is to spread self determination under the belief that terrorism will not thrive in a free republic.

I'm the one that put the * in the first post. It was even better than "sand monkeys" but I figured Dave might be smart enough to figure out the intent without a detailed message explaining it to him. Apparently I was wrong.

This thread is done.
