check out the cz site, in particular the 550 kevlar in 308 and the 550 fs in 6.5 swedish.
if you wanna go smaller package, check the 527 carbine at the bottom of it's page in 762.39. I have one of these, and they are simply fantastic.

there is also a guy on the for sale string here, selling a cz 550 in 308 with a bausch and Lomb scope for 650. I'd jump all over that.

Seeing as more than a couple here have mentioned the only other modern production rifle that sparks any interest in me, I'll mention the CZs as well.

Regards to Ruger; one thing in particular I have noted over the years is that they typically sport what are IMO some of the nicest "standard" factory wood stocks. Well proportioned with it.

I have to agree with you on the quality of recent Ruger stocks. But I find them a little bit short in length. (I'm 6' 1")
