Is .338 Win Mag waining in popularity?

I have one and can't stand it. It resides in a M70 Sporter Magnum XTR. I got it from my father. I reload for it, get good groups, it just slams me around too much. I get 3 rounds and I start getting jumpy and flinchy, no good.

It collects dust while my m70 30-06 gets all the range time it could ever want.

GET A GRIP, ID........FIGURE IT OUT.....do some bench presses for the shoulder mass ... add a PACMAYER DECELERATOR PAD... and add a thick piece of leather to the hunting jacket (carhart coat) that you will be wearing at the range and while hunting. I have never heard a gun report nor felt recoil when hunting (adrenalin works). TRY IT>>> and you will throw that little piss-ant 30-06 away. The 338 winmag is an awsome round. Has good factory ammo and some really great component bullets if you reload. I shoot a custom Mauser 98 in 338 to 450 yards, and a Browning BAR in 338 for brown bears at close to moderate ranges. And... if need be, you can reload the 338 winmag down to 185gr bullets that are as flat shooting as a 7mm RUM, with no more recoil than your beloved 30-06.
Seriously, work with it a little and you will love it. We use an awful lot of 338's here in Alaska. It is probably our most versatile round here.
