I found a gun on an auction that has a Colt .357 model (earlier trooper) and I dont know if this is a misprint, but it sayes that its c&r eligable.

Colt, Model 357 Mag., six-shot, double-action revolver, 357 Mag., Mfg. 1957.

Is that correct?

If it is 50 years old it is automatically C&R. If the dealer is offering as so I assume he has checked the serial against a resource of manufacturing dates and reasonably believes it to be 50 years old or more.

The Colt 357 Model was introduced in 1954 and discontinued in 1961.
It would have to be a very early model.

Note that some guns are C&R basically from day 1. There are plenty of commemorative editions that would fit into that category. I'd think the seller would mention that but who knows. So even if it isn't 50+ years old it may still be C&R. Verify for yourself if you decide to buy it on a C&R license.
