Is CZ the best available for price/function?

Well, I have fire a few different pistols; I really like the feel of a metal-framed gun. My brother has a P229 .40 and my father has a P226 .40. Both gun were very inpressive in respects of quality, fit&finish and accuracy; but, to me, they felt like bricks in my hand. I do have a fairly large hands, but the CZs that I have held felt very contoured to my hand. I prefer a decocker, which they offer for every caliber (sans the cz-83). I only which they they had more models in a stainless finish!

WOW M4coyote, I am surprised. I own 4 CZ's and they are ALL VERY accurate. I have shot in competition and have owned over 100 handguns. The CZ's I own from the compact to the full size 9mm, 40S&W and 45acp have all performed exceptionally. The Model 100 is the only CZ I shot that was a POS.
I have ownwed and own numerous Sigs, XD, S&W, Colt, LAR, Ruger H&K and for the money the CZ has been the best bang for the buck with the XD maybe coming in second. The only thing that bothers me is the limited warrenty, CZ's are well built, rugged and have few problems, I just don't understand the limited warrenty, seems like the bean counters swayed management once again.

Ash, I never saw a re worked CZ70, but I have only had a few of them. They were fun little guns, and decent BUGs. I can say they may have been produced at the same factory, but CZ-UB as it exists today, is not the same company that produced them.
All hail true diversity! If one sidearm were perfect for everyone, there would be one company making one model, in one caliber, and everyone would carry it. I happen to be a CZ afficianado, and very much looking forward to a CZ P07 later this week, but as I said, not everyone has the same opinions. No problem, this is what REAL diversity is all about!
Unless you like Glocks, then you're just a horrible person.... :p

When CZs were <$300, I would have answered an emphatic yes.

Now that CZ's prices are up, I am not sure anymore. They're definitely solid guns but let's just say I don't buy them as often as I used to.

What's a plain jane 75B cost now? $450 or so.

For the price of a new CZ, you are getting close to a Glock or an XD.

afvoo52,
The ammo that I shot from it was WWB 115 gr. FMJ, and Blazer Brass 115 gr. FMJ. That is all that I had on hand to experiment with at the time. I used the WWB 230 gr. FMJ loads in the Expert, and the XD45.

My Expert will shoot just about any loads into less than an inch at 25 yards - off a good rest. I have yet to find another auto hand gun that will shoot as accurately as this H&K target pistol (haven't tried the Sig P210). That said, it would be my last choice for a carry weapon, because it is just too big. The grip circumference is just too large for me to reliably control in a stressful situation, and when my hands get sweaty, I just have a hard time maintaining a proper grip. It's length is also just too much for me to comfortably carry & conceal.

I intend to try some of my 124 gr. handloads in the Phantom, because the Hornady XTP bullet in that weight seems to provide excellent accuracy from my other 9mm pistols. Maybe the Phantom just prefers something different than what I fed it. It is a supremely comfortable pistol, and fits my hand like a glove! I do wish that CZ would have provided me with both contours of the removable backstrap. They mistakenly shipped two curved ones with it, so I have not been able to evaluate the flat unit. I did call them last Tuesday, and left a message about the omitted backstrap & included my phone #, but no one has returned my call.

CZ52, cost was around a $130 or so a few years ago. Fun range gun, a for sure head turner at the range. Practical: not very much, but better than a pointy stick.

CZ82, cost around $150 a few weeks ago. Fun and practical. The compact aspect is nice for CCW and 13 rds of 9x18makarov is nothing to scoff at...The nice thing is that its got a honey of a trigger and is SA/DA with a cocked and locked frame mounted safety with 1911 controls. Alot changes in 30 years of pistol development:D
