Is HK and Sig connected somehow?

I just bought a HK USP Compact 45 on Monday and yesterday it took it to the range. It shot great and I like it alot. Something though was tugging at me while I was shooting it. Something that told me that the gun was familiar. This is my first HK, so I just ignored that nagging thought and ran a few mags through it.

When I got home and finished cleaning it, I put it into my safe next to my Sigs. It was then that it struck me. The HK USP Compact looked almost identical to my Sig 229. I held them up side by side and with the exception of a few differences, they seem to be the same gun. Same ergonomics, same exact size and almost the exact same trigger pull.

Hummmm, I thought. I wonder if some engineers were working both sides of the fence. Anyone else notice this?

Hmm... I don't really see the correlation I guess.

I consider the HK USP to be the Polymer version of the 1911.

1) UBER reliable :D :D :D
2) Same location of slide stop
3) Same capability to carry in condition 1 (C&L)
4) same blocky grips
5) Both are very accurate
6) Both are expensive

Only differences are
1) swinging trigger on USP
2) ambi mag release on trigger guard
3) capability to carry DA/SA on USP
4) USP is polymer and uglier :D

Hi Chipperman. Ok I got to disagree with you on this one. With what it cost me for that one potato chip, it will be the ONLY one I have for a LONG time.

I think their only similarities are that they are pistols and they are black (at least the non stainless/two-tone versions). Some models have similar dimentions.

Different frame materials, different ergonomics, the SIG grips can be changed out, SIG is decocker only, different mag releases, different sights, H&K has the locking system, and to me the trigger pull is different.

Connected? Like Pepsi & Cola or like Fred & Ethel or like Ford & Chevy?

Other than being top notch firearms manufacturers & competitors in the industry, I doubt they are in cahoots :scrutiny:
