Is it legal to go target shooting there? I live in the DFW area and have been wanting to shoot somewhere other than the range. I will pick up myself so as to not ruin the environment and use common safety precautions like knowing my backdrop and not shooting near house/roads. I've heard that it is legal to shoot on any National forest/grassland. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated.

I don't know about Tx, but in Co you can shoot in state forests as long as you are 150ft from a road or dwelling along with some other requirements.

I guess not?:uhoh:

Target Practice

Recreational rifle and pistol target shooting on the LBJ Grasslands is closed. On the LBJ’s western border, 380 acres are open to clay pigeon shooting with shotguns.
All other areas are closed to target shooting. Information on areas to sight in weapons may be available at district offices.

I used to hunt there a long time ago (15+ years ago) with my dad. There used to be good deer hunting and quail there... I wonder why it's closed...
