Is it possible to try several guns before you buy?

@bikerguy302 welcome!

As everyone else recommended, rental ranges....

It also may give me time to get to know more guys at the IDPA matches and maybe try out a few Different guns if they’re kind enough.

You will find most IDPA shooters are just like you. Approach them as you wish to be approached.

Try a variety of guns for feel, but consider commonality with your Smith Victory, so it can remain as your trainer.
That means a single action, which doesn't describe most poly pistols....a single action hammer gun would be closer in trigger feel/manual safety. Do I recall some versions of the CZ are single action only?
Yeah, the gun market is a fluster cluck right now; the good news is that any gun shouldn't have to be forever. Sometimes you just have to live with a gun for awhile. Don't plan on making money, but a trade lessens the pain of a new one.

Right now you can’t find anything but when 9mm pistols become available again, what are your suggestions for a “try before you buy” thing. Some of these models are not available for rent at local ranges (I called and asked). Any suggestions/advice?

Where I live there are gun shops that rent a large selection of guns. Between that and getting to know people who have a lot of guns or at least the ones you want to try, you should be able to get an idea.

Get the Glock 19...

JUST Kidding!!

BUT, I'd certainly try to shoot before you buy..if not a range or gun store, a club or online way to 'borrow' one with the owner..or something. I bought a few guns w/o shooting them and they are all gone because after I DID shoot them, realized how much I disliked them.
Ruger LC9S
S&W 642
Taurus LCP

The ones you mention are not a TON of $ but..getting them, disliking them and reselling/trading them all means lost $..

The 2 ranges I have gone to have a lot of guns for rent.....Just gotta use their VERY EXPENSIVE ammo.
