A close friend of mine has expressed interest in getting into hand guns. Of course I am excited to have another buddy to shoot with, so over the last few weeks we have gone shooting a few times and he believes he is ready to join the fold. He would like to first buy a 9mm, as he has access to several (mine) .22lr pistols already. My question is: What local ranges in the Seattle area rent pistols? I know Wades in Bellevue rents guns, but any other suggestions would be appreciated. I know there are a ton of good nines out there and just want to expose him to as many as possible so he can pick one that fits him well. Thanks.-Rick

As you mentioned there is Wades in Bellevue. There is also Sam's on highway 99 in South Everett. I like the staff at Sam's more than i like the staff at Wades (its been a long time since i went to Wade's though) but, they dont have very many rentals.

And thats pretty much it. WSI is closed, and the only other public range I can think of that offers rentals is Bullseye in Tacoma (and i dont even know if they are still open).

Bullseye is still open, and doing business. It is on Puyallup Avenue in Tacoma; I-5 to the Portland Ave exit, then westbound. Look for the big safari decal on the side of the building, next to Alfred's Cafe.

Another one is the Marksman, on Meridian Ave. in Puyallup. I-5 to Hwy 512 (near Ft. Lewis), head to the Canyon Rd. exit. It's in the back of a small shopping center right across the overpass.

There are also a ton of outdoor ranges in the area. Tacoma Sportsman's Club (Meridian Ave, down the street from the Marksman), Renton Fish and Game, the SPAA range near Seattle are the ones I remember. Tacoma Rifle and Revolver is near Bremerton, across the Narrows Bridge; Kenmore Range, off of I-405 are others I've been to.

Where in the Seattle area are you coming from?

Check out the Arlington Training Center, northeast of Everett. Great range, friendly people, though not a huge selection of rentals. Bullseye definitely has the biggest selection of rental handguns, but the range is smaller and darker.

Thanks for all the responses. I live in Kenmore, he is in north Seattle. Looks like we will add Sams and Bullseye to the list. Again thanks for the info.

Having shot at all the indoor ranges mentioned in this thread, I would say that Wade's, Sam's and the Arlington Training Center, in that order, have the most pistols for rent. If the goal is to try more than one 9 mm pistol, I think Wade's is your best bet.

The last time I was up at Arlington they had a LOT of handguns for rent.
But since many of their rentals are available for sale that number might have dwindled.

The last time i was at Bullseye thay had a huge selection. The advantage there is that you rent by caliber. In other words if you rent a 9mm you can swap it for any other 9mm in the case at no extra charge.
But as has been said it is smaller and darker.

Sam's, as y'all well know, is my favorite. Mostly because it's close but also because you can shoot almost anything there.
(And the low yearly unlimited membership price.)

I've been lax about shooting since the last move.
I need to get back on a once a week schedule again.

Who want's to go shooting?

Bear, my availability for shooting will be going up in the next month or so. When the good weather hits, I try to spend a lot of time on my bicycle. Accordingly, I have not been shooting for three or four months now. But once the rains start back in earnest, the bike goes into the garage, and it is time to break out the handguns again. At least until the snow falls and I can dig out my snowshoes......

I'm going ot have to check out the Marksman since I now spend more time in Pierce County.

Close to Tacoma?

Bullseye is nice but I'm not big on the neighborhood (take all your toys inside while you shoot).

I use Bullseye, but dont rent.

Tacoma Rifle and Revolver Club is in Univversity Place, between Tacoma and Lakewood, nowhere near Bremerton.
address:
8503 Chambers Creek Road West
University Place, WA 98464

There's a new one....

.... in the Kent valley. It's a gunshop / gunsmith / range. This is the shop that was in Fife, on Pacific Highway South. I'm not sure if the range is open but if not, it will be any day. There are memberships for sale, big discount at this time.
