My “mild utility” load for the 44 mag has been, for 43 years 17 grains of 2400 with a Lyman 429421 sized to .430. Lights out accurate from my 6” 29-2 and my Super 3screw. Hunting, 22 grains of my old hoard of Hercules 2400.
Your load is light medium.

Almost the exact revolver I'm shooting these loads out of, expect mines a newer model with a 6.5 inch barrel. very similar 2400 charge too. I originally was loading with 17 gr but found for some reason my gun just grouped better with 16.5. Don't know why but it did. Also my whole reason for shooting this lighter load is to reduce wear and tear on my revolver as I would like to someday give it to my kids and still have it shooting somewhat tight. So hearing a similar load has been working for you for over 43 years sounds good to me.

Now if had let's say a super Redhawk or a revolver that's known for eating up those hot loads, that'd be a different story entirely and I'd just be having fun seeing what I could come up with in terms of super gnarly 44 mag ammo.

The question wasn't about those cartridges, but about 44 Special and 44 Magnum, both of which SAAMI does define.

Both of which share a common minimum pressure specification from SAAMI… which is to say, neither have a minimum pressure standard.

I am not a "numbers" reloader, nor do I post pages from published data.

That’s not a reloading page which I posted, but rather is the SAAMI pressure standard for 44 magnum. Provided as rebuttal to your previous message which claimed the OP’s loads were below minimum pressure, velocity, and foot pounds energy standards for 44mag… bluntly, your claim was incorrect because no such minimum exists.

This is where I appreciate my chronograph. For my magnum loads I buy a box of factory magnum ammunition and dial my reloads in off of that. .44mag for example had my magnum loads at 1440 fps through a 5.5” barrel compared to factory Magtech magnums that were running 1370 fps. It was as simple as that. I have loads out of the .44mag case that run 1160 fps and 847 fps, these are not magnum loads even though magnum cases were used, again simple as that.
