Is Palmetto State Armory legitimate?

And just so you'll know, not all the AR-15 and AR-10 FCG parts are the same. For instance, the bolt catch and bolt catch screw [instead of the AR-15 roll pin] are different parts. The threaded stem on the AR-15 mag catch is too short for the wider AR-10 lower. Some mfrs. ship the right part with LPKs...some don't.
The bolt catch, it's screw/pin are not in the fire control group (FCG). The FCG is just the hammer, trigger, disconnect and their associated springs.

The bolt catch, et al, is part of the lower parts kit, but not the FCG.

As to PSA, good prices, kind'a slow on shipping some things but by no means the slowest in the AR world.

Beat me to it.

I plan to use a PSA PS10 rifle kit so no worries here.

I too have experienced lengthy ship times with just about every order from PSA. But the deals make up for that, IMO.
On the flip side, they forgot to include my Pmag with a lower I ordered from them a couple years ago. They overnighted the darn thing! I'm sure they spent more on the shipping the magazine was worth.

"The bolt catch, it's [sic] screw/pin are not in the fire control group (FCG)."

Well, of course, you are correct.

I made a poor transition from FCGs to lower parts in general when ID'ing the incompatibility of the two platforms. My original point, however, is valid re: PSA's short-term problems with their AR-10 offerings.

Don't know which spec will end up the winner in the competition but will be happy when it's settled. Right now, it's a hassle.

If I don't need it right away, PSA is probably the first place I will look at for it. If I need it quick, there are other places that will almost always cost more, but it will come in a hurry. That's the only complaint I've ever had about PSA, the longish shipping times.

This is the 21st century. If you are so swamped by shipping items that you can not reasonably keep up you really need to hire more people. Though with the economy doing better than ever it may be tough to find people looking for a job.

If your inventory software, even if it is between your ears, can not accurately track what is or is not in stock then you need to update your tracking software. Both work force and software are items that need to be addressed for any business to thrive.

PSA is doing well so they can't be that bad, but all the stories of horrible shipping times leave me looking at paying a bit more for parts I know I will get before I die.

Legit, but definitely slow. I think it's because they're understaffed for the volume of business that they do, but hey, it keeps the prices down. Fast ain't cheap.

Sorry -- should qualify: I have only ordered ammo, and yes, they have been slow on ammo orders. I think that's due to the volume of ammo business they've been doing.

I've gotten my last two orders within the ten day window that they claimed it would be. The communication was good too. I emailed them and heard back within a day.

Folks, I had to prune a number of posts out because of a good amount t of insults and non THR comments,or the quoting there of in responses. We can disagree, even strongly, with out resorting to insults. No matter how general in nature they may be. Insults of any form will not be tolerated on THR. If you don't like something another member post then attack their argument and prove that wrong, but do not attack that, or any other member.

My psa experience

I have made many purchases from psa one the past few years. I have bought many ar kits, lpks, blem parts and bolts. The quality is pretty decent for the price, i mean all the parts fit and function flawlessly.

As for the shipping, i have a theory of why it takes so long. My last order from them consisted of a lpk and a bolt carrier charge handle combo. After about a week and a half the lpk and bolt arrived with a note. It said that the charge handle has been delayed by the manufacture. Another week or so passes and I get an email stating that the charge handle is not coming and that i will get a refund for it. This tells me that they don't have an onhand inventory for all thier products and are selling them before they come in, maybe before they are made! It's essentially a back order.

I have ordered about 5 times from PSA. In the past the shipments have been very slow. But, I buy guns that have a substantial discount from them and the wait time is ok with me. Last week I ordered a pistol and it was waiting at my FFL in two days. I will continue to do business with them. But for a 3% discount I might just buy from Midway, Brownell's or etc...

Like most, I have ordered from PSA. Last year they were the first place that I found bulk 22 ammo for a good price. I do not expect blazing fast delivery times.

When I find a place with cheaper prices, the same quality, a faster delivery, I will change my buying habits. Until then I will continue to purchase from PSA.

I've had good dealings with them , mostly because I dont expect it to be shipped fast , nor am I expecting LaRue or JP-level precision.
I've ordered two uppers from them , as well as a few orders of misc small parts , and will be ordering a pair of receivers in the not too distant future.

They sell a fairly decent product at a great price , I've used them to do a couple KISS-truck carbines that function just fine and are accurate enough for general work . You cant expect the quick shipping that many others offer at a higher price. If you understand that going into it , you'll be satisfied with the end product .

Even though I've had a few issues with PSA, 42 days to fill an order, unanswered emails about order screw ups etc-
I ordered a TCP on Monday and they called me Friday it was ready for pickup at their local store.
That is a first for me! Usually takes well over a week and often much longer for a store pickup order.
Maybe they are improving:D
