Is the S&W Performance Center still up?

I looked at the S&W site today to finally get a revolver in for a procedure and can't for the life of me find anything about the Performance Center other than pre-existing PC guns that are available.

I don't care to get into what I want done as that will lead to distractions from the base question regarding the PC.

Does anyone know what has seemingly become of them taking in work?

Todd.

I would advise you to find a good pistolsmith rather than send it to the clowns at the S&W P.C. They are not pro grade smiths any more and I never thought they were all that great when they started plus they will have your gun forever (assuming they don't lose it).

Have not heard anything but you are correct about no mention of them working on a gun. 3 or 4 weeks ago the S&W website was redone. There is now no mention of 45acp revolvers being made either. I suspect they are busy with the Shield EZ recall and producing what they can make & sell most efficiently.
I sent my M60 Pro in for warranty work back at the beginning of November. It has been 12 weeks since they got it as of yesterday. Usually it would be 6-8 weeks so things are not running as usual

A negative review is a review none the less.

Never want to go into something blind. Thanks for the input. Although, if they've pulled their own plug, I guess it might not matter.

Some good smiths in AZ, I think I would keep it local if at all possible. Save on shipping and you should be able to talk to the person about the work you want done.

I get to talk face to face with my smith here and it has been a real plus in me getting what I want as we can be sure we're clear on things.

I can do the work myself - I was just thinking of running through there since they had such a good rate on a particular package.

I have personal experience with Tom Kilhofer going back to the 90s. He was a State Police pistol champ for the Illinois State Police for years (back when all cops carried S&W revolvers). He used to come to our matches and take ALL the prize money. He would compete with a S&W revolver in the semi auto class and beat everyone with full moon clips. He is a straight up honest smith. He turned me onto the whole moon clip thang. He also does EXTREMELY fine S&W trigger work and he taught me a great deal about tuning S&W revolvers. When I first met him he had a huge Bridgeport mill in the basement of his house. How he got it in there I will never know. He can be trusted to work on your guns but I'll probably never shoot against him in a match again. He would let you keep up until the last stage and then he'd pass you so fast you'd never see it coming LOL.

Thanks for that. Speaks volumes.

I hate the redesigned S&W website, and I also hate that they pulled the plug on the Mdl's 64 and 67. I just hope they don't pull said plug on the Mdl 10, and I wish they'd bring back the Mdl 58 in 4" nickel.

I heard the highly experienced PC staff all retired 5-10 years ago. Now they have the typical congressional influenced list of selected employees to repair and tune your revolver. Perhaps this is why they weakened standards of certain tolerances.

I waited 7 weeks to get my mod 500 back from the PC. The issue was addressed, but minimally at that.
I'm generally disheartened to read the comments here and also to read a review of the TRR8 327. Every single one is supposed to be a Performance Center gun and the reviewer, while apparently excessively kind, pointed out a couple of GLARING faults with the gun. I'd have been seriously upset at the issues were they on a run-of-the-mill gun but supposedly being a Performance Center gun made it all the worse.

I guess between that and the roundly negative reviews of the PC as of late - why court disappointment and angst with them?

They didn’t do much for my Model 48 .22 WMR after charging me $30 to ship and $190-odd bucks to fix it. :(

It’s back with a local ‘smith because it locked up on me again at the range.

Stay safe.
