Is the SP101 adjustable rear sight durable?

Has anyone here had any experience with a SP101 with an adjustable rear sight as now used on the .327 version? If so is that sight durable? Will it hold zero? Do you think it is any good or would you really prefer a fixed sight?

i wish they made a 4 inch SP101 357 with those sights...it would make a hell of a trail gun

The Ruger SP-101 adjustable rear sight is the same one they used on the discontinued .22LR models.

It's a windage-only adjustable blade that slides in a groove in the frame.
As long as you don't allow grime and grit to collect in the sight slide and adjustment screw, the only danger is dropping the gun or hitting it and damaging the sight blade.

From that stand point it's not AS "durable" as the fixed sight versions, simply because the fixed sight is just a groove in the frame and it's harder to get to to damage.

Due to the simple design, it holds settings and gives no trouble.
